I was able to run this on Windows 7 64bit
5/5

I love how well it works! In Windows 7 64-bit, I did not need or use the CD to recognize and install it. I did it through Windows Update automatically. There was a need for me to go into the "device manager" The word "ports" The Windows XP computer was quick and easy to install. I simply needed to click a few buttons and my palm desktop software was working as expected. Having a setting in device manager to switch from com3 to com1 did not change anything on xp, but on windows 7 64bit you have to do that to switch from com3 to com1 and then enable that on the pamm desktop sync icon. It's good to know that no complaints have been filed. I tested it on several computers and found it to be well constructed.

This would not be a purchase I would make The reviews made me decide to buy it
3/5

The point is. When it falls out, the usb port locks up, requiring a reboot to get it working again. This metal keeps falling out because it does not hold itself in place well due to its steel shell. A couple of years ago, I bought three of these, one stopped working, another had the plastic over the usb connection fall off, one still works, but it all has the issues listed concerning it.

It does exactly what I wanted it to
5/5

With the newer ThinkPads, a serial port does not exist, even on the docking station. It is important that I use this product to establish a connection to Cisco devices through the console port of my Lenovo T420. What I don't get is why Cisco hasn't been able to keep up with the times and changed their cable to terminate to USB or include an adapter from serial RS232-DB9 As a result, I had to spend a lot of time to get what I wanted. I got on Amazon and searched for a product that could provide the serial to USB conversion. This is the one I found. Reviews were positive and I heard a lot of good things about this product. The operating system I'm using is Windows 7 64-bit I wasn't sure if I would need to use the disc, so I was concerned. My laptop was connected to the adapter via the console cable, then I connected the console cable to the Cisco device, then I connected the adapter to the A CD was not required to install the drivers since Windows found them automatically. The console access to my PC was restored after I launched a PuTTY session. It did everything that it said it would and I didn't need to search on the CD for the right drivers. I was very satisfied with the product. We also received everything we ordered within the time frame that was provided to us at the time of purchase, so we are satisfied with the service as well.

It's exactly what you said it was! BSODs are no longer an issue
4/5

For someone who needs to make use of serial console cables occasionally (to access Cisco equipment), I needed a product that wouldn't cause my Windows 7 x64 laptop to crash According to some online searches, the FTDI chipset is compatible with Windows 7 x64 and doesn't cause any issues. During the setup and staging of equipment for labs and customers, I have tested this extensively. The only thing I find troubling (with putty) is that scrolling or pasting a lot of commands can occasionally cause it to Although it is easy to just close a session and reopen it, it can be annoying when working with a large script or configuration. Trying secureCRT later to see if it's just a putty problem will help me to decide what to do. I am generally happy with the purchase because it allows me to do what I need to do without having to break.

On OS X, it works great
5/5

I was surprised at how well it worked with OS X Yosemite without any driver installation. In the past, I've used other serial USB interfaces (for Arduino and similar projects) that required some tinkering to work. There was nothing more to do than plug in, attach the other end to Juniper, and run "screen /dev/cu" on the terminal. USB Serial Port The device says "xxxxx 9600" and I'm on it.

Make sure your FTDI version is up to date
3/5

We were unable to use the chipset due to its incompatibility. A New Serial - With USB adapters that support the latest version The latest FTDI chips are now the standard. Older versions and those from other manufacturers are incompatible with the newer versions.

It is a great adapter for computers that do not have serial ports
5/5

I purchased the Gearmo USB to Serial DB9 adapter to connect my laptop to my printer. It's easy to set up, and the USB slots work great, apart from some times when they pull out.

I find this to be very useful
5/5

Lastly, an USB to DB9 adapter that actually works. I use this more than once a week to connect to multiple brands of routers, switches, and telephone systems, and have had no problems. I ordered several additional units for my field technicians.
