I didn't even need to download any drivers. I just plugged it in and it worked! As you can see, it is a very old printer (over 20 years old), but it uses toner with iron oxide, a crucial ingredient for printing photos on photo paper and creating Update
Working with an old Fujitsu laptop running Windows XP as well. During the search, I let Windows Update check The driver was found and although I had to click through the unsigned popup, it installed and worked immediately. Eventually, the system discovered that there was also a 5MP camera and downloaded that driver. When the plug is plugged in It took less than five minutes to print and did not require a restart.
My HP LaserJet printer has a JetDirect card installed to make it a network device, but when I used VPN to a remote location, remote documents would not be printed to the HP LaserJet. That's what I mean. Only after I had disconnected the VPN would files be spooled, and then they would start printing. In the past, I had only the JetDirect card installed, and everything worked locally. But being able to print via VPN was an issue, and I had to disconnect every time I wanted my Laserjet printer to work! Our new PC boxes do not have printer ports, of course. When older printers can't be used with USB, it's a little more difficult to use. I'm pleased with the way they've done their work together, and everyone seems pleased too.
A number of other reviewers got new Windows 7 machines, and my new machine does not have a parallel port. I also had a laser printer (Lexmark Optra 1650), so I did not have a parallel port. It did not seem possible for the two to work together. The first time I got this cable, I was Packages like that do not come with instruction manuals. A second concern was that their list of "compatible printers" did not include mine (although there was a Lexmark printer on it, but Additionally, ME, XP, 2000, and so on were on the list of compatible operating systems. The article mentions Windows 8 but does not mention As I had nothing to lose, I decided to try. ran the cable through the printer and then connected the other end to an open USB port on the PC. When the computer booted up, it immediately identified the new printer as the Lexmark Optra 1650, and downloaded and installed the correct It said that the printer was ready 45 seconds after that (no kidding). Using Word, I loaded a complex document that included graphics, and it worked perfectly. Keeping older parallel printers operating with this cable was an inexpensive way to keep them running. It's way cheaper to use a used laser printer instead of buying a new high output This is a full recommendation for any individual who finds themselves in a similar position.
Thank you so much! I received it The package of the manufacturer is very easy to open. I'm satisfied with the performance of the product. One of the USB ports on the printer setup has just been assigned to my printer. Neither software nor hardware was required. A driver for Windows 7 has been found. I have no problems. The setup for my computer is as follows Please note that. This is the 64-bit version of Windows 7 It's a bit*br*- The new PC that I built did not have a parallel port on the motherboard (most newer motherboards have the same). This HP LaserJet 2100 printer has been in my home for about 9 years and continues to work just fine. In the past, I've used 3rd party toner cartridges without any difficulties. I have been able to keep this printer because of this cable. It is very rare for a cheap laser printer to support 1200 X 1200 resolution as well as this one Most of them have a 600 X 600 aspect ratio. There is no need for a new printer for now.
A notebook PC running Windows 7 was connected to an HP Deskjet 890C that I used with that adapter. The AutoConfig feature did not work, so I turned off Symantec/Norton Antivirus (as suggested by ABC Products customer service person) and restarted the machine. This did not work either. As soon as I turned off my antivirus, I used the Add a Printer function and selected the USB001 Virtual Printer Port from the Port tab. It worked. You may need to run a Windows update to ensure that you get the proper specifications for the printer. Older printers (such as mine) are not listed since many of them are obsolete. The folks at ABC Products went above and beyond to assist me and responded very promptly. There were no instructions or tips on how to use this product or even a suggestion that I could find help at their web site (not listed on the box, but found after a Google search). Therefore, I gave it a 4 out of 5 star rating. This function deserves a 5 star rating Worked like a charm. I'm able to continue to use an old warhorse printer at full capacity now.
