gave the magnetic vent covers a try after seeing your idea about them so much that I bought the three 15" x 8" packs at Home Depot for $5. of the cover works only on the dark "magnetic" side, and it is very effective at holding screws/paper clips. But neither magnetism nor magnetism was strong enough on the "white" non-ferrous non-ferrous My attempts at putting a white sheet of paper over the dark magnetic side failed due to the magnetic field not being strong enough to hold screws/paper clips on the white side. In order to create a grid on the dark magnetic side I used a permanent White Sharpie pen - it really works well I have only one thing to say Writing on it and then erasing it won't work as easily as if it were white and you were using a dry-erase marker You must erase the The "dark" magnetic pad I use for iPhone repairs has become an indispensable tool for me I am happy with the results!
The material would not roll up well like fabric, nor is it stiff like a dry erase board. Is a sheet of magnet mat material about 4mm or 5mm thick. Magnets that fit on the fridge.
Initially, I was worried when I put a PS3 HDD on it, but today I am relieved that it did not In addition to repairing phones, tablets, and handheld game systems without losing data, I also repair these on this magnetic mat. While exercising caution whenever possible, I always try to be cautious.
The plastic is what keeps the wipe-off marker from staining the pad, so my guess would be no. Though the skin on my hand started peeling off on its own pretty quickly so I may be mistaken. If you want to confirm, I suggest you contact Ifixit directly.

Just like everyone else, I tire of losing screws when working on things, so I was so happy to hear this product was coming out. It is solid and magnetic enough to hold screws even when you turn it upside down or flip it on its side. At this point the disappointment sets in because when I received the product the anti-slip coating was flawed. It was dry up and not working so I used another dry erase pen. When I called customer service, it asked me to leave a message for them to call me back, so I did that. I still have not heard from them after 6 days. I emailed them a second time, but again, got no response from them. If this is how they treat their customers, then they deserve to be ashamed. There are several things that I am dissatisfied with about The next time iFixIt reads this review, please contact me and replace my dried up day erase pen with one that works and I'll update.
I'm pleased with my Magnetic mats are available from iFixit as well as the pro version. Instead of the white plastic blister on blue cardboard, it comes in white cardboard packaging. It is definitely thicker than the version that came in white plastic blisters. If you're concerned about the pad rolling up, you won't have to worry as this pad is very rigid. This is the first time I have used this and I like it a lot. Losing screws is a thing of the past I hope so.
As you can see from the photos of the mat being held vertically with two tweezers and a couple of screws and nuts securing it just fine, the mat is amazingly grippable, and its entire surface is As a matter of curiosity, I tossed it at a fridge to see if it would stick or slide off, and it stuck instantly and actually took a little effort to remove. By the way, We can find this item for a cheaper price on Amazon than we can on the manufacturer's website and paying even their cheapest shipping rate. I was given a $9 ticket to the East Coast as the cheapest option. A 19-dollar purchase would cost $30 in shipping. A 99 product. It was delivered to me next day for free via Prime How do they do it? I don't know. There was nothing not to like about the product. Shipping was faster than I expected it to be and the item was delivered the We have no complaints to make. The only point I would like to make is one I've made before about a lot of other items sold by ifixit on here and on their own website. Why all the As I understand it, you want to safeguard your products in transit. However, it is often (if not always) overkill if you demand every possible level of protection. If only ifixit owned a cardboard factory, you'd think it's a big business. If packaging was reduced, I'd be more than willing to pay less if it met the needs without going so far.
This looks like a good pen with a fine point, but it is difficult to tell just yet how really well it works, at least right now Would anyone be willing to replace it with the same brand (I previously had a STAEDTLER Lumocolor with an 'F' on it)? I don't want to waste $17 if this is not the right pen for this surface. **Seems like it may be but don't want to waste it if it is not. Reviewers state that it will dry out quickly when the cap is removed for only a short time, but it will be 'correctable' and not really a dry erase, so what you write will not be erased in a way you did not intend. It seems like that would be a good fit for this application. I believe the tip on this pen will stay 'fine' better than the normal dry erase fine tips (and not turn into a medium tip after using it) based on some comments on it. It is a question for the others if this pen had been delivered with its cap attached properly, would it work well on THIS surface It appears from the comments here that the people who get usable pens do not complain about them. I wish someone would sell a single pen on Amazon so I could try it out without having to pay for shipping.
Looks like they could fix this at the factory by attaching the cap with a small piece of electrical tape (so it can be removed easily when you open the package and want to use the pen). I suppose this is the fault of STAEDTLER for the design of the cap, but the iFixit is taking the heat for not allowing the pen to ship if it is not shippable. This mat seems to work well in its intended application, but perhaps sell it without the pen for a few dollars less and recommend this pen on the packaging if it does perform well in this situation If the packaging needs to be fixed, do so.
There was no cap attached to the pen, and I understand the reason- There's just too much air in it for it Based on the reviews, it seems not to be the first time either. The pen is made by an established vendor. There should be no reason for this. After soaking in water for a short amount of time, steaming, and a longer soak, I felt a lot better. During the long soak, there were quite a few drops of ink extracted (maybe all?). Although it did work over the weekend, it did not work afterwards. I like iFixit, so I do not want to hassle them with a return. There is no reason to believe that this is a common occurrence.
It is my responsibility to do so He's the kind of guy you can fix most things by yourself. It is also my biggest problem to lose screws or to have only 2 or 3 screws left after I finish assembling something. The other day, I was replacing the screen of my iPhone when I had one screw left over that I could not find a place for, so I decided to get During one of my laptop's breakdowns, I used it as backup when I broke my laptop's DC port. After ordering the replacement jack, which required extensive desoldering and soldering, I have it repaired and ready for use It didn't have a single screw left over after taking the laptop apart. Because I had notes on the board next to the screws, along with pictures I took with my phone, I was almost certain not to make a mistake putting it all While the project was a failure, this mat served its purpose. When a friend saw the thing on my desk, he noted all the screws were attached by the magnetic surface, that I had scribbled on it, and that he saw tiny arrows located in screws, so he thought it I chose to buy this from Amazon because they have free two-day shipping. You can find this cheaper on iFixit's website ($14 and change) but I opted for Amazon to get the free two-day shipping. The repair project that this thing is used for is invaluable.
