Questions & Answers

Is it suitable for use in the open air? I'd like to attach it to a gravestone, but I'm not sure if it will rust. ?

The anchor is unlikely to rust, but a laptop attached to a gravestone is unlikely to last long outside.

Because we are not allowed to drill holes in our dorm furniture at my university, does this anchor require screws or is it held in place by suction?

Screws or the extremely sticky adhesive that comes with it can be used to mount it. It isn't a suction mount, so don't expect it to work. If your school does not allow screws, the adhesive might be a problem. If you're using a laptop at school, I'd suggest simply looping the security cable through something that can't be removed or from which the cable can't be slipped.

I originally used adhesive to install the lock, but now I'm attempting to reinstall it using screws. What's the best way to get rid of the gray plastic cover?

If you're looking for something more practical than "the cover simply pops off" (eyeroll), look no further. Behind the four nubs on the outside of the cover, there are four tabs. They're extremely difficult to access once they've been installed. If you just used the adhesive like I did, you can pry the whole thing off first, making it much easier to "pop off" the cover and mount it with screws.

Is it possible to use a tablet with this?

I believe it can be used as a tablet because we used it as a laptop.

Buying This Is a Waste of Money
3/5

I'm serious. It's a complete blunder in terms of design. The anchor can be removed in under a minute by any thief with a simple screwdriver. In a literal sense. This thing is for sale, and I can't believe it. It appears that they got lazy and sent the project to production in the middle of it. To protect the screws, look for an anchor that has a metal cap.

I'll never understand why conference rooms don't have locking attachments
5/5

I keep one in each of the conference rooms that I use frequently. I'm not sure why the company doesn't purchase "AV/Power inserts" that have locking features. Is it possible that I'm the only one who uses a CR for longer than an hour? br>br>Until I discovered these, I relied on rope hasps, latch parts, and security screws. It's small and compact, and it folds flat - At the very least, they're as flat as the A/V center modules (no hasp protruding like when I ghettoed them). People complain about adhesion - the grey cover is sufficiently modern. br>br> And this is subject to change. It won't stick to the underside of a desk or table, for example. It adheres to the smooth surface of a table fairly well. A determined person, on the other hand, can still work it off. But consider this: The connection to your laptop will eventually become more delicate than this tape. br>br>I strongly advise using the included security screws for the best results. You'll need to bring a drill (cordless or hand (ha!)) into the room. )) as well as a screwdriver are required. There are two screws in total. Simply use the tape to secure it. Allow space on the side for the cover (it shouldn't be pressed up against the AV insert). Drill away, blow out the majority of the sawdust, and install the screws. Done. I attached it to one of the ends, and it appears to have been installed by corporate - and it's close enough to the center to be convenient for everyone. br>br>Which is yet another plus - Any - will fit in the rectangle. a large number of - There are a lot of lock ends to get through. As a result, everyone can have a good time while locking off this one latch. br>br>Are you afraid of being discovered? I don't have a lot of confidence in myself. Almost nothing "done with purpose" is worth more than a cursory glance. And when I said "I'm putting in a locking security latch," I got "Thanks for taking care of that" as a response. So keep this in mind: br>br> "Only OK" - says the tape. which may or may not be a good thing. It's not going to be simple to get rid of it. A determined individual, on the other hand, may be able to overcome this obstacle. The screws are of good quality and come highly recommended by me.

The tape did not adhere, but the screws did
4/5

This is the laptop I bought for work. It performs as expected in the vast majority of cases. br>br>However, when I first tried to use the adhesive tape under my work surface, it didn't work out. I'm not sure why, but it came right off when I used force on it like a thief would. br>br>Following that, I used screws to attach it to the underside of my desk. br>br>While this is sufficient for now against a smash and grab, a determined thief with a screwdriver or pry bar could easily remove it. I suppose the goal is to be the PC that is the most difficult to steal, though it isn't impossible.

Mounts that are extremely secure
5/5

Beware - This mount is extremely sticky and cannot be removed without causing damage to the surface it is glued to. I gave it a five-star rating because it was exactly what I needed. I used a few of these as iPad tether anchors at a public auto show and had no problems, despite the fact that hundreds of people were using the iPads. We had to cut the cables and leave the anchors when the show was over.

It's not flawless, but it gets the job done
5/5

This product was purchased to keep my laptop secure on the table in my bedroom where it is kept. Because the table material prevented me from using screws, I relied on the adhesive, which is both good and strong. Yes, I could probably get it off if I really wanted to, but if someone took the time and effort to remove the anchor, I'd notice it immediately. The idea is to prevent someone from taking my laptop when I'm not looking (or when I'm in the bathroom). I'm not so naive as to believe that a determined thief with enough time to work on the lock would be able to defeat it. It's exactly what I'm looking for. I went out and purchased a new one for my desk that is much more durable. When I'm out of the house, I also lock my bedroom door (which has a deadbolt). There isn't anything else that would be worth the money for the extra protection it provides, so I'm happy with it. br>br>If you want to keep people from taking your laptop in a public place, this item may not be for you. In any case, there aren't many public places where you'd have the authority to install it. This works well in a more private setting to prevent someone from walking away with your computer.

Does a good job: creates a point of reference I bought two of these to hang in places where there isn't a convenient way to loop a security cable
4/5

br>br>The item is a metal plate with a swivel that you can pass a security lock through that can be fastened to a surface (more on this below). If you happen to have a cable with a fitting that fits into a security slot on both ends, the swivel also has a Kensington security slot. A gray plastic cover with a large "Kensington" on it is included with the plate. You can hear the metal clanging around as you move the swivel around. It's not a security problem, but it's more industrial and raw. br>br>Adhesive tape and/or screws are used to attach the metal plate to a surface. The screws that come with the kit are only one-half inch long. They are directional, which means they can be screwed in, but the head design has a smooth surface (rather than a flat edge), making it impossible to unscrew with a screwdriver. br>br>To make the plate more secure, I secured it to a stud in the wall. I found the included screws to be a little short, so I recommend getting some longer ones for added security. To go deeper into the wall stud, use directional screws. In the end, it gets the job done. br>br> Longer screws and a design that doesn't make noise when the swivel is moved around could make it better.

This is a very strong connection
5/5

As a result, I used the adhesive strip to secure the anchor to the steel cabinet beneath my desk. So far (a couple of months as of this writing), it has held up well on this surface. If you really need a secure connection, I recommend using the provided screws (or some nuts and bolts) to attach it with. I briefly considered trying to stick it to the bottom of the desktop itself, but I had reservations about how long that bond might last. I haven't given it a good yank and have no plans to do so.
