Product Description

By entering your model number, you can make sure that this fits.
Laptop Lock secures laptops, desktops, TVs, monitors, hard drives, docking stations, projectors, and any other device with a Kensington security slot to a desk table or any fixed structure using Kensington t-bar locking technology.
The anti-pick tubular lock is supported by patented hidden pin technology, which makes the new smaller and stronger pivoting 10mm Lock head ideal for even the thinnest laptops and devices.
6' carbon steel cable with plastic sheath resists cutting attempts, providing increased security and mobility. A special hinge eliminates awkward angles and makes locking and unlocking simple.
NOTE: Does not work with 2016 and newer Dell laptops and tablets that use Dell's new wedge lock slot (see Kensington part K68008WW or K64440WW) Some HP models, such as the HP Elite Books X2 tablet and Chromebooks, use our Nano saver lock slot (see part K64444WW for compatible models).
Technical support for the first eight years in the industry and for the rest of your life.
Firewire is the technology used to connect devices.

Questions & Answers

My laptop is a brand new HP Pavilion Touch. Is this lock suitable for such a purpose?

We're delighted you inquired! Even with our OEM relationships, we have a hard time finding out which of their devices have which lock slot. Your best bet is to go to HP's support website and type in the exact model name (e.g., HP Pavilion dv9000, dv9000, dv9000, dv9000, g, 15- cs0003ca), then select "User Guides" from the drop-down menu, then open the Maintenance and Service Guide file, where you'll find the security slot type on page 4. With the 15-minute rule, Page 4 of cs0003ca (a Pavillion 15) stated a Nano Security Cable Slot (our model K64444WW). I'm looking for a different model (15-year-old) and I'm having trouble finding one. cc060wm) The guide mentions "Security Cable Slot," which is a little vague but most likely means our standard Kensington lock mechanism (like this model K65035A) will work. As a result of the wide range of notebooks, including Pavilion models, please be cautious and consult the support website.

On my laptop, I installed this lock. I know the slot is locked because I tried to open it. But what gives it such a sloppy feel?

It is the device manufacturer who is to blame. Kensington's only contribution is a set of specifications. This is a problem I've had in the past. To make it fit snugly, I used a rubber washer. The locks' ability to secure the device will not be affected by the loose feeling.

Is it compatible with the new Dell security slot, which is smaller?

Hello, Dell made the decision a few years ago to switch to a unique slot design called a wedge lock. We created two skus to complement Dell's new look: The keyed part K64440WW is for a combination lock, while the keyed part K64442WW is for a keyed lock.

Is it possible to use this lock with a Synology 720?

Hello, yes, this cable lock (K65035AM) works with the Synology 720 disk station. br>Thank you for contacting us with your inquiry!

Excellent quality; This case is not compatible with a MacBook Pro from the first half of 2011
4/5

This lock was purchased specifically to protect an Early 2011 MacBook Pro with a Kensington slot, according to its specifications. The lock mechanism appears to be sturdy, and the cable is stiff, indicating that it may be more difficult to cut than most similar locks. br>br>Unfortunately, the Kensington slot on the MacBook has rounded corners, whereas the lock's shaft is rectangular with sharp corners, resulting in only four stars. It's like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. This lock fits into every other Kensington slot I've tried it in, so it's most likely Apple's fault; I'll keep the lock for another device. br>br>I like the protruding tab on the key because it makes aligning the key with the lock a breeze. However, I'm concerned that if the key is banged around in a pocket or on a ring with other keys, the tab will bend and the key will no longer fit into the lock. br>br>I've included photos of the MacBook slot, this lock, and a Kensington-style lock. I found a style lock that fits the MacBook, as well as one of the keys to this lock.

For Use In Public Areas, This Is A Good Minimum Security Lock
5/5

When I go to the public library, I bring a small notebook with me. This is an excellent example of a well-written essay. designed a lock that prevents someone from casually picking up and walking away with my notebook without being seen. br>br>I don't recommend leaving a locked device unattended for long periods of time or out of sight. A pair of snips appears to be all that is needed to cut the cable. Others have mentioned that some Kensignton t-shirts are missing. With enough force, locks can be yanked out of their sockets. br>br>Kensington lists this lock for $50 on their website, but you can often find it for much less, and it's not worth much more than $25.

Purchases should be avoided

Do not purchase this pricey cable lock unless you are certain it will fit your laptop. br>br>Didn't work with my Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5-inch laptop. br>br>I'm very frustrated because a universal standard for laptop locking slots should exist. But it appears that everyone wants our money: br>br>.

A fantastic brand that I believe is well worth the money I spent to protect my work-related Intel NUC PC
5/5

It's a Kensington, for those who aren't familiar with the term. There isn't much else to add. Sure, you could find a cheaper 'work alike' cable somewhere, but this is a great brand that is so well-known that manufacturers who carve that little slot in the side of their devices refer to it as a Kensington slot. (Okay, it could be a licensing issue. ) )br>This is a very long cable. Mine is mounted on a standup desk with a single pillar on the left and one on the right. I shrink the lock by wrapping it around one pillar and then through the loop several times, preventing it from expanding while still locked and being pulled off the bottom of the TEE-shaped post. br>Contrary to appearances, the lock pivots on the cable's end and rotates around the inner lock mechanism, ensuring that the cable does not protrude in an inconvenient manner.

Excellent value for money
5/5

It does a decent job. It isn't a complete deterrent to all forms of theft, but it does deter the most common thievery attempts. I bought it because I wanted to run. The quality is excellent for a product that costs less than $20. 00br>br>Perfect fit for my Acer 5. Keep in mind that the Kensington slot isn't available on all laptops. On Kensington's website, there is a tool that will help you find the right lock for your needs. I tried to put the URL in, but Amazon doesn't allow it, so my original review was bounced.

Purchases should be avoided
3/5

It's not trustworthy! The lock functioned properly, but the key has been inserted and will not rotate to unlock the device from the computer. This is a serious issue. br>br>I took the computer with the lock to a computer repair shop, and they were able to extract the key, but not the lock. This was purchased for a man in a nursing home who was on a fixed income. Although cutting the cable appears to be the only option, the lock will still be inserted. I'm so fed up!.

It was well-made, but it was a little difficult to maneuver
4/5

This was purchased for our son's laptop in his dorm room. It's strong and well-made, but it's a little tricky to lock. Before it locks into place, you must get the part in exactly the right place and turn the key. It takes a few minutes to get the hang of it, but it appears to work well and secure his laptop in the end.

The image is deceiving
3/5

This is an excellent security system. However, the image used to promote this product is not the same as the one I received. This model is advertised as an older version, but I received a newer one. Exactly the same. My older laptop, however, does not fit. So, good product, but be cautious about what you're buying and whether the newer versions of this lock will work with your device.
