I just took a 0 right now. The converter has a 6 mile fiber run and a looped fiber port. Yes, the FX/ACT LED appears, indicating that we are connected via fiber - But why would you need to perform such a test? To ensure that the fiber transceiver is operational, for example. The only reason I can think of is to test the fiber throughout its entire length. Because there's one more thing to think about - If you simply loop the ports with a simple patchcord (like 1 m or so), the link may not come up due to optical saturation phenomena, or you may even burn our receiver. Finally, I'll say this: Looping with a longer cable is fine, and the fx/act led will shine brightly, but that's all there is to it - Where do we go from here?

Because both can have the same form factor, mode fiber can be used in both applications. But, assuming you didn't make a mistake, this product is truly set and forget. Most applications will be extending an ethernet run beyond the limits of copper, where fiber is a better fit (e. g. , e. g. , e. g. , e. g. , e. g. , e. g. , e. g. , e. g. , e. g. , e. up a stairwell or across a warehouse, for example) - I'm assuming you'll order two fiber media converters that are compatible. br>br>However, if you're using a media converter because your ISP is sending you fiber but you need copper - Your ISP, on the other hand, is a moron who either doesn't tell you or tells you the wrong information. It's difficult to make a mistake here. Order this "single mode" converter or the same multimode (or just carry the GBIC in the opposite direction). As far as I could tell, the converters were identical in every way, so I bought one of each, unsure of what I was getting myself into with my application.
This was purchased so that I could run fiber to my RV and not have to rely on Wi-Fi. It's fantastic! The wife is also pleased with the 1 gigabit internet connection in the camper.
This is my first time working with fiber. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. When I plugged it in for the first time, it worked.
A low-cost method of terminating a fiber line into existing ethernet equipment.
There is nothing I dislike about the item; it is a well-made product. However, the mounting holes on the two rails could have been better positioned to allow it to be mounted inside structured boxes such as Leviton, On-Q, and others. Q etc.
They quickly shipped it to me, and it was incredibly simple to set up and use. The only drawback is that when I tried to order a second one, Amazon kept sending me the wrong one. (I realize that wasn't the manufacturer, but it was on Amazon).
Although two are required, the cost is still less than the competition. There is no need to set up anything. Operations that are bulletproof.
