The support staff is excellent, and the guys are extremely helpful. Update 4/20: br>br>In case you're a first-time visitor, here's what you need to know: I originally purchased this item a few weeks ago to connect a spare SFP port on my Netgear managed switch to the Verizon ONT that provides a gigabit internet connection to my home – I did set up a VLAN between two switch ports to connect the router to the ONT. Then came the letdown: It was unable to upload data at a rate of 1 gigabit per second. The router did, in fact, download at a speed of one megabyte per second. The ONT was connected to this module because it could not deliver gigabit upload speeds. The setup could handle both gigabit uploads and downloads if I connected the ONT to a built-in switch port. Connecting the ONT to this module was the only difference in lowering the upload speed (from 1Gbps to 60Mbps). br>br>I did return the item and gave it a one-star rating. The seller contacted me after I left a five-star review. They expressed their regret for the situation and offered to send me a replacement unit for testing. When the second unit arrived, I ran more tests with other devices in my network to see how they compared. When connected to the ONT, the upload speed remained at 60Mbps, but when connecting other devices, it was able to transfer data at 1 gigabit per second in both directions. The SFP module was kept, but it was connected to a different device. br>br>This seller's customer service reps were really nice, and I appreciated how they reached out and tried to help. They clearly care about their customers, which isn't something you see very often. br>br>As for my final score, I'll give it to you as follows: I expected 100% complete compatibility from this module with every gigabit device I could throw at it, and I was disappointed that the one device I wanted to connect to it did% I appreciated the seller's follow-up and provision of the necessary support to their customers. As a result, I'm giving it a four-star rating.

- br>4/15 UPDATE: br>br>After experiencing some slow speed connections, I was contacted by the seller's tech support staff, who have been working tirelessly to find a solution to the problem. br>br>I'm waiting for a second unit to arrive to confirm proper operation. In the meantime, I'm bumping up the rating a couple of stars to reflect their continued commitment to resolving the problem despite the hardships we're all experiencing as a result of the pandemic. br>br>As soon as the second unit arrives, I'll make another update to the railing to reflect the actual product quality. br>br>Original 1 br>br>Original 2 br>br>Original 3 five-star rating: br>br>I just got this guy for a Netgear GS310TP switch so that I could use one of the spare SFP ports to connect it to my provider's modem. I connected the modem to this module after creating a VLAN between the router and the modem. The network connection was established successfully, and I was able to access the internet. However, after looking at the speed benchmarks more closely, I discovered that while the module supports 1Gbps download speeds, it only supports upload speeds of 60Mbps. br>br>I double-checked my work. I checked the switch's internal ports, and they were able to achieve 1Gbps download and upload, which surprised me after isolating the discrepancy to the module itself. I'm disappointed by this turn of events, and I'd appreciate it if someone else had a similar experience, or if you had done any performance testing on the product. br>br>If I don't hear back, I'll request a refund.

The price is fantastic

Because my entire network is based on the Ubiquiti ecosystem, I was hesitant, as were many others, to invest in an off-the-shelf product. I needed four of these, but I bought one to see how things went first. Then I encountered a snag. I plugged it into the switch in my living room, but nothing happened. On the switch, there was no longer a heartbeat. When I went into the controller after rolling back the changes, I discovered that my SFP ports were disabled. (Duh! ) I turned on the port and waited for the switch to detect the new SFP before moving my uplink cable. The device, vendor, serial, and Part Numbers were all recognized by Switch. After that, I simply moved my uplink to this port and voila! I can't comment on the 10/100 devices because this is connected to my main Unifi Switch, which is all Gigabit. But at the very least, I freed up a PoE port that could be used in the future. br>br>Now I'll go out and buy three more to finish the job. Those who are curious about what is next to the switch should look at the following: br>br> This is an "AC Infinity MULTIFAN S2" blower fan. These switches are cooled in a passive manner. The Fan is currently set to Medium speed, but when set to MAX, the Switch Temps dropped from 150 to 98 degrees Fahrenheit. A super quiet $15 USB powered fan dropped the temperature by 52 degrees. br>br>Update after 6 months: I bought 5 of these in total. (1/27/2021) Following a power outage, the original switch in my living room failed. There was no effect on anything else. Then, despite being connected to battery backup, one of my main switches failed a few months later. I couldn't return it because it had been more than 30 days. I'm currently running three of these, and everything is going well so far. I'm hoping they'll last more than a few months each. Aside from that, I'm pleased with them.

'Plug 'n Play' is the name of the game
5/5

However, static discharge should be avoided at all costs. To begin with, the company was extremely accommodating, both in terms of determining which of their models would work and in terms of providing a prompt and courteous response. They sent me an SFP module that arrived quickly and in good condition. I'm using this module to add a second port to my Allied Telesis X230-based router. PoE switch with 18GP management and stackability. There are 16 active PoE ports on the switch, as well as two additional SFP ports. Those two ports were not accessible to me without fiber cabling. With the Gigabit RJ45 plug-in, you can now connect your computer to the internet. I have an additional port that I feed from my router through the QSFPTEK module, which frees up all of my PoE ports for my devices. Thank you for your help, QSFPTEK! I would do business with this organization again without hesitation. Support for any given product, in my experience as a retired IT administrator, is usually more valuable than the product itself. In terms of SFP modules, I believe this company is one to keep an eye on. When assistance is required, they are more than willing to help. br>br>Having said that, read the excellent manual! Static discharge is always present, so use caution when working with this transceiver. If you keep your feet on the ground while installing the module, you should have a great time.

If you plan to connect a 100Mbps device to this, make sure your devices support 100mbps SFP
5/5

I purchased the Ubiquiti Edgeswitch 8 Poe for myself. I'm not an expert when it comes to networking switches and SFP, so when I plugged it in and couldn't get the Pi 3 I was plugging into it to test the connection to work, my first thought was that I'd gotten a dud. After doing some research, I discovered that Edgeswitch only supports gigabit on SFP ports, which isn't unusual among SFP switches. So I plugged in my computer and everything worked fine; however, the advertising is a little deceptive in that it fails to mention that not all devices will be capable of 100mbps. br>Aside from having an extra port, I was only one port short on my switch and didn't want to buy a new one. Everything works as expected, with the exception of one minor snag caused solely by my ignorance.
