I agree, yes. Serial com ports are converted to IP in a program that you use for the interface. A Linux program or capability of this nature can be used in this case. An administrator is a webpage that manages the device.

It is very easy to connect old devices to the network with this program

Due to the fact that it would be impossible to run serial cables all the way back to my server, this allowed me to connect two devices that still use the 9pin serial cable to my network. There were only two com ports that were added to the device manager and it was simple.

As with every Lantronix product, this one is a quality product as well. Is there a way to make two serial ports available I can help you with this. You will be good to go once you become familiar with the software for setting up their virtual com port.

I originally purchased it for a Ethernet to RS-232 converter I presently needed a RS-232 converter for an installation at a customer's site.
I found that it is just as easy to program for RS-232 as it is for RS-422 My Ethernet cord was made into a RS-485 converter, and was used as an Ethernet to RS-485 adapter Translate 485 into a readable format. I am very happy with how it turned out. There is a rugged design, it is easy to install, and it is easy to configure.
