For the past two years, it hasn't been able to charge properly. I've purchased 6 or more of the less expensive non-alcoholic beverages. Chargers from Dell, as well as a new non-Dell charger, are now available. The battery from Dell. They've all worked fine for the first charge up, but then my laptop returns to the "Power adapter not recognized" issue. The battery on my laptop is dead. "I finally broke down and purchased this official Dell product. For the few days that I've had it, it's been charging and working. Yay me! I should have just gone ahead and purchased this one in the first place. I thought I was saving money by purchasing the low-cost chargers, but in the end, I ended up spending more.

This could be the issue if your Dell computer is reporting that it no longer recognizes its own power supply. In the last three years, I've gone through four different chargers. br>br>In the cable, Dell embeds an identifying chip. When it fails, the computer will slow to a crawl and become unusable. It will turn on and off but will not charge. I've replaced the power supply three times now and it's always worked. br>br>I'm not sure why Dell decided to do this and in such a devious manner. I keep my chargers in a case and treat them as if they were glass, but they still break, so keep a spare on hand at all times. If you wait until you need one, you'll pay more than twice as much, assuming you can find one at all. br>br>Crappy, to say the least. Because it works, I gave it three stars. For the time being, at least. br>br>Update: It worked for three hours before the Dell box lost track of it. Don't bother contacting Dell to express your dissatisfaction with the situation. They'll wash their hands of you because you got it from Amazon, and despite the fact that it says "Dell" on it, they claim it's not theirs. And if it was, they'd just give you a refund on the charger. You're on your own when it comes to your laptop and data. Your Dell computer is useless. br>br> Flee.

The battery is not charged. This is not a Dell-branded charger. I wasted far too much time trying to get it to charge a battery, and I even purchased a new battery after exhausting all available troubleshooting options. When I plugged in an older they'll charger that I happened to come across, the battery immediately began to charge! Don't you despise shady businesspeople?.

This was a poor investment decision. I needed to get a new charger. I bought it after seeing it on Amazon. It SEEMS to be from Dell, but I'm not sure because my hard drive had a MAJOR meltdown a day or two after I plugged it in, and I had to replace it. Everything was fine until I received the replacement plug. I don't believe it was a coincidence, and I'm curious if other people have experienced the same issue with this product. My computer crashed, and I had to leave it at the Tech Doctor's office for over a week while they tried to figure out what was wrong and fix it. Inconvenient to the extreme. This is a product that I would not recommend.

I have a Dell E5440 laptop that I exclusively use for work. I didn't realize the original charger was only 90 watts when it stopped working. I chose this charger because it could be delivered in one day. When I plugged the charger into the laptop, it said I needed a 90-watt charger, but it let me use this Dell charger. I am pleased to report that the charger is in good working order and that I have encountered no issues with it.

It appears to be a genuine Dell OM charger, and it was significantly less expensive and time-consuming than dealing with Dell directly. That's great! I'm paranoid about chance encounters with strangers. Overheating brand chargers caused my pants to catch fire, causing people to believe I wasn't being truthful. I'm just hoping that the one I purchased isn't cursed. With my dog chewing through AC adapter cords and all, I just can't deal with it right now. That hasn't happened yet. br>br>For the time being, that is. 5⭐.

Despite the fact that it claims to work with my specific laptop in the description, it reduces my CPU by 300%. It's not enough to have 60 watts of power. My computer is almost unusable because it runs so slowly. I'm returning it in exchange for the 90W version, which is only $5 more. I'm using a Dell Latitude 6540 laptop computer.
