During the last year, I bought this unit with 24tb of storage, and it has two HDDs. The width of the board is 4 inches. The 17 TB i have for storage comes from a RAID 5 setup.
I did receive six Patriot SSD drives of 1 TB each with my system.
A Patriot P200 1 TB Solid State Drive (SSD) was installed in mine. After upgrading them to 6 Western Digital WD Red SA500 2TB SSDs, I am now using six of them.

I set this up in a matter of minutes, it offers a great storage solution for my small team as we work remotely, and it is a nice small form It would have been better if it were set up in RAID mode, but that would have required double the storage and would have been way.
A package of six 1 TB solid state drives and 6 GB of Ram was bought with the Synology DS620slim. We were able to assemble it easily. A media server can be easily set up as follows It was straight forward, even after watching a few videos on Synology's Disk Station Manager software on YouTube. There is a very fast response time It can transfer files at 110 MB/second and maxes out my local 1GB network! I am using a compact device that does not take up a lot of space I'm very happy with how things are going.
Installation and setup of the 620Slim are a breeze. There are a lot of cool apps you can run on it once it is set up, and it is relatively trouble-free once it is running. There are only two things I would like to change If it were to have had a bit better processing power, and for heavy task loading to be a bit slower, I would have liked to see it. Here are the 2 examples There was very little support available when I needed it. It was a good buy if you were in need of a lot of storage in a small area.
After years with a Western Digital device and not getting value for money, I switched to a Synology. It took Western Digital several attempts to set it up, but now I'm able to remotely access my drive even though I have a 5GHz CPU and 6GB of memory. Thus far, I have been pleased with the Synology. I am looking forward to getting a new one but bigger this time.
I like how easy to use the interface is
The storage capacity was right around what I expected and the speeds of the transfer are really good
Adding backups to Amazon S3 is simple as well
.
A 5" blue WD desktop drive is not raid class, and one of the six is bad.
