The HDMI output of the ASUSTOR is intermittent, and the QNAP TS-32 has intermittent HDMI output The 453D-shaped block If you like In addition to audio and video storage, my NAS also functions as a backup storage device
3/5

QNAP gave me more storage space than my ASUSTOR NAS and I decided to give it a try. There has been an intermittent problem with the HDMI audio output since I bought it. The sound fluctuates, occasionally there is sound, and sometimes it is garbled and broken, and then (like now! The failed rule in ) is a complete failure. There is a persistent flicker in the video as well. There is an open Service Ticket with QNAP, but this activity is getting more annoying every day. Despite my best efforts to setup and configure this device within the 30-day DOA policy, it took me much longer than that.
If you purchase one, be mindful of that. This however was not the case, as it had issues that rendered it unreliable. For my purposes, the laptop was thus useless. The following was sent to me by QNAP technicians in the 2nd update
I later found out that some users happened to encounter the same problem. Version 4 of the firmware does not suffer from this issue. The Hybrid Desk Station 4 build 20200529 is also included in the build 20200529. Is there any way you can try downgrading the firmware and using a hybrid desk station app, and then test if the HDMI Taking a backup of all data is a good idea before downgrading Downgrading the firmware is as simple as following this procedure. According to me, reverting to an older firmware version is not a viable solution. My lemon seems to be stuck in my mouth. You can see video of the flickering I'm experiencing in the attachment. **
It took a while, but thanks to cryptic emails back and forth, and small question asked of me, "Someone" decided it would be nice for me to send it I think this is a valid option, but it is not very smart for what I need. Here's what I responded to In case of other failures or if the device continues to degrade, warranty work may be required. Need a repair? That would be a foolish roll of the dice on my part. I have had little faith in the "Repair" of items such as this as a electronics technician and engineer for over 40 years. There is no reason to believe that your experiences will be different. A transient problem is a ghost that will appear with the repaired item and haunt me for the duration of time I Furthermore, there will be months of extra time when I won't have access to the information. I will swap out the motherboard on my own if you send it to me, but it needs to be sent away. . . Although I appreciate your position, protecting my own data and productivity are what matter the most to me. In this case, the problem is with the HDMI audio and display function, not with data storage and retrieval. The problem has been communicated by me to all parties involved, and my position is that the posed solution poses a threat to my data. To protect my data, I will have to copy it on to another device. So, the logical option that seems to come to mind is to pick up another device and have someone take this one over, even though there are problems. In case of other failures or if the device continues to degrade, warranty work may be required. It’s one of those times where I just call the experience with QNAP a wash, and I’ll go back to ASUSTOR again. It appears that I am no longer able to access the QNAP Service ticket for the third update. Despite their best efforts, they couldn't resolve it. An email was sent to my customer service email address. The HS Science Club volunteered to take it if they can use it, and I told them that I was going to donate it to them for free. ASUSTOR is where we will start. Hope everyone has a great day. I am done with QNAP. Best of luck.

The product is good, the deal is good, and the fun is unlimited
4/5

Comparing Synology Diskstation to other products has been done a lot. During my ten years of using Synology, I used it extensively. While it was good, I didn't do much else with it except for utilizing it for storage and reverse proxying. My company decided to take a shot at the cheaper security camera licenses that Qnap offers. What I expected is better than what I got. It has many reviews that say it has My opinion of the UI is that it is fine. There were a lot of configurations to choose from as well as lots of research to do to come up with the right Security cameras and streaming video are the main purposes for which I use the app. It was easy to upgrade the memory. The 16GB chip (Timetec Hynix IC) was added for the 20GB model with no issues. In any case, I did not do the PCIe SSD cache, as I do not intend to run Virtual Machines. I didn't buy the virtualization PCIe cards because I found that they are very cheap but work with NVMe M. The memory is 2 GB. If I don't do it now, I might The hardware is actually better than Synology from a hardware point of view. You don't have to buy the original expansion card. The security will be a concern owing to the fact that it is open to third party software, and that would make it more risky. On top of that, I wouldn't put anything sensitive on a NAS. In order to ensure security, it is best to keep things offline. Update Two months after the purchase, I found a small problem that I dislike. And that is my cheap PCIe card for NVMe M. There is only a small amount of cache memory on the SSD, so I will only be using 2 Qtier is not an option for me. The write cache of this could also fail before it is written to my HDD, so it is not good as a cache memory for In light of that, I feel like Synology is now a better option for those who want to run Because it comes as part of Synology NAS, it has 2 SSDs. It does not matter if I need to obtain the RAID PCIe card separately. I guess I am still getting cheap security camera licenses from Qnap. As a result, I removed one star from the rating.

The security of the QNAP systems under scrutiny
3/5

In the end, I discovered that this product contains malware that might be capable of stealing your documents as well as As a result, your whole home network may be at risk of The usual recommendations of updating firmware are all that has been released regarding how this malware can penetrate or what measures have been taken to take care of this. Despite enjoying the convenience of a NAS system in my home, I can't recommend this product at this time due to its lack of security. Anybody who cares about this issue should make it his or her number one priority. The item seems like a great idea, other than security concerns, which I hope will be addressed soon. As this is my first NAS for my house, I suggest purchasing one if you are comfortable with network protocols and are proficient in using them. If you don't know what you're doing, you can leave yourself quite exposed. Even if the security problems weren't present, I'd give this device 4 stars solely for the cost of the device. If you have enough time, you can set up your own NAS for a lot less money.

My recommendation would be to go with Synology for Plex users
3/5

It was difficult to decide whether I would buy this NAS or not, but in the end, I am disappointed. Even though set-up was easy enough, figuring out how to install the software I like is not intuitive. I expected that, but I quickly discovered that all the software they brag about comes with licensing fees, like the one you need to get access to exFAT external hard drives. My first choice would have been Synology if I could do it all over again. In actuality, I have decided to build my own home server or at least buy one so I know it has the CPU power to handle what I need it to do. Also, if you're planning to use this NAS to run Plex, you should know that its file system is hidden, so migrating my Plex server was complicated by the fact that I had to find a workaround to access the.
