It is, however, capable of reading and installing software from discs. br>br> It was unable to install CyberLink Media Suite 10 because it could not read the installation disc that came with the drive. It recognizes the disc as containing data, but when I try to run it, it hangs and requires a restart to get my computer back up and running. It does, however, recognize and install *other* software from *other* discs, as I mentioned at the outset. I was able to successfully install drivers and software from other discs, but I am unable to play DVDs or Blu-ray discs. rays on the way to work-- That number was 99. 9 of the reason for purchasing it- without the software on the disc that came with it I could spend another $60 if I really wanted to. I shouldn't have to pay $100 for the most recent version of PowerDVD downloaded from CyberLink's website; I specifically bought this one because it included the software required for playing DVDs and Blu-ray discs. rays. It's also *extremely* loud. br>br> It's not that it's loose or anything; it's just that it's installed securely. The drive is audible in and of itself. Other reviewers claim that this isn't true of all of the units, but buyer beware: You might get a noisy lemon like me, with no way to play media on it without paying for additional software because the (very dated) software on the included disc won't install and instead freezes your computer until you force a restart. br>br>Buy this if you're in the mood to be annoyed, disappointed, and have to pay significantly more than you expected just to make full use of it. What a wonderful opportunity.
I've never had an LG drive fail on me before, and I don't expect this one to either. The only disadvantage is the software used for playback: Cyberlinks Power DVD is now on version 14, which is 7 versions old.
Because this is outdated technology, installing and operating these optical drives is simple. br>The drive does exactly what it is supposed to do, and there isn't much else to say.
It was the perfect size for my portable enclosure. The amount of noise is acceptable. It's so small that you don't even notice it. Even with my USB3 connection, the speed is good. There is no barrier. As a result, loading chapters takes very little time. PowerDVD 14, a good player software, was included with the one I received.
My previous LG blu-ray player was unable to play blu-ray discs. Lg tech support was abrasive and unwilling to assist with the issue. So I gave it back. br> This one came with Cyberlink software, which includes a Blu-ray player, allowing me to watch Blu-rays on my computer. br>It went in without a hitch in the computer bay, and there hasn't been any noise. br>.
These are fantastic drives. There have never been any issues.
It performs admirably and is significantly quieter than my "old" Blu-ray player. Ray drive is an acronym for "ray drive. ".
I'm at a loss for words. Work is going well. No coasters were ever used.
