When the product first came out, it worked like a charm. The program worked perfectly while it was on my computer. Even though I have only lightly used the drive for the past several months, I now find that it has completely stopped working only 6 months after I bought it. Although I'm disappointed about this, I'm also open to the possibility that I just got a bad drive that quickly failed. Last time I had a blue-ray player, it lasted just as long as this one did This is an LG Blu-ray drive, which lasted for four years with moderate use before a friend of mine.

I bought it since my Playstation 3 was in storage and I had to replace my optical drive for my PC anyhow. Disc player/burner that can play and burn CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray discs, though DVDs and Blu-ray discs do not work A separate piece of software is required for Blu-Ray movie playback. Many free apps are available to play DVD video, like Media Player Home Cinema, BS Player, and VideoLAN VLC, but there are no such apps for Blu-ray Unfortunately, none of the Blu-Ray movies worked for me. It seems the discs are "locked" and you need something like Cyberlink's media player (not free) to play them. And even then, you have to "unlock" the disc through the app on your PC or text/call for the key you'll need to enter. I hate it. A bit of a pain.
