Listed below are some tips you might find helpful. For my first Ryzen build, I must say it went smoothly with almost no issues to speak of, compared to the systems I have built in the past. I love this motherboard because it's well made and has a good build quality. It turns out that the sound quality isn't as poor as was reported in other reviews. Using the MysticLight software, you can also create some pretty cool lighting effects. I would recommend the motherboard because it is sturdy, well constructed, and I would rate it highly. #1 Always install RAM/Memory in the 2nd and 4th slots "from left to right"
#2 With an upgrade of Windows 10 from Windows 7/Windows 8/Windows 8. 1. You no longer have to upgrade your previous version of Windows 7 or 8 to Windows 10, Microsoft has made it easy to install Windows 10 directly and to activate the new version using your old Windows 7 or 8 product key. You should be able to activate Windows 10 by installing it without a product key, then clicking on the Windows properties/System Information page when it loads, and selecting Activate while online. This board is black (CMK16GX4M2B3000C15). I had to go into the bios after loading Windows and turn on the It was set at 2133MHz stock, and after setting up XMP Profile 2 and saving and restarting it, it was set at 2933MHz. Yours might be different, so see what works for you
Pros Having a visual instruction manual that you can follow was great. (Please read the instruction manual beforehand)
Cons Unfortunately, the mounting screws are not included with the board I am very upset that I got the board and was almost ready to install it into the case when I discovered there were no mounting screws provided I was lucky enough to already have enough mounting screws.
Despite the fact that the image of this board on Amazon says Ryzen My plan was to just see if it would recognize my 3600x and if it did, I would switch. Thank you for your patience! I am happy to report that it worked. The package worked right out of the box as I had my 3600x and 3200MHz viper RAM! This is a great board and I appreciate the updated bios in the new new I was able to work a bit more efficiently!.
Despite having a BIOS update to enable it, I am lucky enough to even be able to get to the BIOS screen. While support is working on updates, the B450 Tomahawk's beta BIOS is not yet available for other MSI boards. Though don't worry, MSI has a lengthy message about how excited they are about having launched the X570 motherboard. It is impossible for them even to indicate a date by which an update will be made. Remember that to flash the BIOS without a compatible CPU you will have to remove all components including RAM, CPU, GPU, etc. That means that if you have water cooling (as I do), you will have to disassemble your whole loop to carry out the BIOS update. Due to the fact that my GPU is water cooled and the Ryzen 5 3600 does not include integrated graphics, I am left without a display without it. This is really just a giant mess on MSI's part.
I ordered this board early before Ryzen 3000 was released (great because prices have gone up), but now I only have 6 days to return it.
My favorite brand of hardware is MSI, and I'm glad I chose this board. I have never had any serious concerns about their mobo or graphics card products, and been lucky enough not to get a dud or DOA as can happen with all manufacturers. I have an AMD Sapphire GPU built from 2012 collecting dust, and I decided in the last month to upgrade it. Now that it's up and running, it's running quite smoothly with the new SSD. I'm very happy about that. One of the only complaints I have with this board is that, along with a few other MSI boards, you have to install the CPU fan BEFORE you screw the motherboard into place. The board has a backplate on it, so if you try to do it the other way around, it will shift and then you'll be like "Why don't these screws on the CPU fan reach their respective holes?"? Install the CPU and the fan first, and then screw the board to the case, as weird as that might sound. The rest of the manual is smooth sailing other than that one weird bit.
Using this board with an R5 2600 I was able to achieve a stable connection. My four was very stable and remained stable for a long time. It had 0 overclock using Hyper 212 Evo stressing it for an hour while using Aida64 at 67C. ** B - I was also able to OC my Trident Z RGB to 3200 using A-Box The XMP protocol. ** B - A lot of people are pleased with the ease of use and ease of configuration of BIOS. ** B - It's nice that you can change the colors of the LED's on the board with the Mystic Light software. The color red is not the only color. Although LEDs are not individually addressable, they do not have to be connected in parallel.
