Work is going well with the drive. My favorite LG product is the Optimus G. I am not sure how the LG stuff has evolved, because what I have gotten before has lasted so I have not needed to upgrade. As soon as I tried to install it on my Windows 10 computer, it started crashing my computer, and I had to go through hoops and folders in order to finally uninstall There was one of the programs that came with it that decided to auto-start without me asking. It keeps trying to find media files it can associate with, but it hangs up mid-search and causes my system to stall. restarted my computer, but guess what, when the system began to reboot, this error appeared After NERO PoS program failed to auto continue the media file search, it tried to do it again. After much tinkering, I was able to UNINSTALL it, but it caused an error when I was doing so. Although I have managed to get rid of this PoS, I am not sure it is completely On some device, it tried to install the "ASK" toolbar. There doesn't appear to be a browser, but it might be a web page. There might be still be a chance for that. Additionally, since there were errors during uninstallation, there may still be files that need to be deleted. Further, Nero will automatically install wherever it likes, you can not direct it which location to use. Upon installing Nero, it just opened itself, and it didn't even ask me if it was alright? Make sure you read "before installing. ". If you select install, the package automatically runs on your system without any input from you. If you have a Windows 10 system, I believe the package works fine on Mac systems. It would be better to buy the drive itself, and find a different multimedia program for it. The Nero fiasco has damaged my trust in the company. I will not buy a newer version of their program because it is not Win 10 compatible. The autorun of non-essential programs, without the installer giving me the option to install in a different location or asking for my permission, is one of my biggest annoyances.

A nice design can be found on the drive. Besides the mounting screws, SATA cable, and SATA power adapter, I got the Nero software in the version with the mounting screws. There is a lot of misinformation in the advertising for this package that I find very frustrating. You can see a nice picture of a Nero software disk, but the one you get has the word TRIAL in large letters, and will not play Blue Ray films without buying an If you do not need the other cables and screws, just get the bare drives. In the local stores, I was unable to get replacements for my old Plextor drive that stopped reading and writing Blurays. My search led me to the LG 14x WH14NS40 on Amazon. After looking at the specs, I ordered the bare bones drive without software, since I own Cyberlink programs already. There is a Mdisk that came with it that I have not yet tried to record on, but I did load it to see whether it worked. You could not ask for a simpler installation process. There was the latest firmware on the drive. As soon as I slid the LG unit into the front of my PC I shut down my PC, opened the case, removed the Plextor, then connected the existing connectors into the LG unit. Then I shut it down and restarted it. Microsoft Windows 10 and my Cyberlink software immediately recognized the device. A new DVD movie started playing when I loaded it. There is no fuss or muss here. This was an excellent buy, shipped in a few days, and the only complaint I have is that the drive was packaged in a small box stuffed with peanuts and It appeared that nothing had been damaged.

I would have given it a 5-star rating It is rated as a five-star item, but it does not come with molex As shown in the picture, there is a sata adapter. The power supply only comes with the sata data cable that connects with the motherboard. For most people, this would not be an issue, but I have other internal drives that were connected to the power supply through the sata data cable. My order did not include a separate Molex-type connector In the picture, I see a sata power adapter, so I believed it would come with the drive. Thus, I had to spend $8 on a power adapter and wait another day for the cord to arrive, a most frustrating experience. You will have to use CyberLink DVD or another product to play any video from a BluRay disc. Apart from the missing cord, this drive works just as well as any other DVD drive.

There's a high chance you'll get taken advantage of. You get screwed over with PowerDVD even though the drive is fine. In addition to giving you PowerDVD 10, they are no longer supporting PowerDVD 10 and have a newer version called PowerDVD 15. If you buy a drive that comes with PowerDVD, you may be unable to even update it to the latest drivers required to play all of your Blu-ray discs You guys! Surely you are thinking that you can just upgrade to the more recent version for $139, but that won't work. For the same price as buying just the full version, there is a 90 retail upgrade fee from version 10. Unless you need anything else, I'd recommend only buying the drive.
