It's now August 2020, and it's been a complete failure. My wife informed me that her substitute wasn't working anymore. As a result, I began to put everything through its paces. I got to the 12v power wire and pulled the fuse, assuming it was the source of the problem. Fuse passed all of the tests. I cut the wire open to find it was all corroded and broken apart from the fuse to 6 inches towards the battery side, despite the fact that I used everything included in the kit when I installed it, so it should have been fine. The corrosion appears to be due to a misunderstanding between the wire and fuse end. Also, because I live in Virginia, the corrosion was not caused by salt.
The power and ground cables are of excellent quality and are well-insulated. Both have plenty of length, and the ground cable is much longer than what is typically included in these kits. The RCAs are extremely thin and inexpensive. If you want better sound quality, I recommend going with a higher-quality set. The fuse holder appears to be well-made and attractive. For the money, I believe this is an excellent kit.
Similar products (search Crutchfield for copper amp kits) cost $60 more than this. This is a true AWG 4G, which means it can push a lot of power and has excellent quality. The cords are soft to the touch, and the sound wire is of good quality, but the POS WIRE IS NOT COPPER. It appears to be aluminum, and it runs on an alpine Mrv-style battery. The m500 is equipped with a Kicker 10 and produces fantastic sound. It's not something you should be concerned about. If you've made it this far, I strongly advise you to purchase the book. It was well worth the investment.
On a Fosgate 2400 watt amp, I was using aluminum clad power wire before this kit. The wire began to heat up, causing the insulation to melt. I switched to this kit and haven't had any problems since; the bass is clear and the wire remains cool. It's of excellent quality and the correct size for the rating.
Spend the extra $20; you'll be glad you did. Excellent value for money, with true 4 awg OFC cable, unlike those kits that claim the same gauge and OFC but are complete lies. I compared the RCAs to some Rockford Fosgate RCAs and found them to be identical; I wouldn't be surprised if the RFs were simply rebranded. Even the speaker and remote wires are the right size/length and have a textured (non-glossy/sticky) exterior that makes sense for car audio installations, unlike wires in other kits that are a pain to thread through grommets and door jamb gaskets. This kit has exceeded my expectations.
It's exactly what it says on the tin. It's genuine copper, and it's a four-gauge wire. The quality of the fuse holder is excellent. The RCA headphones are excellent. My only criticism is the stud size for the crimp connectors, which is a bit small. It would have been nice if they had included some larger ones.
For high-quality cables, the price is well worth it. Of course it is. There was no overheating or anything like that. I ordered a new set of cables after my car was totaled in July and I couldn't get them out. The price is $20 higher than the previous year, but inflation is inflation.
Excellent amp kit with pure copper wires that worked perfectly for my 2500 watt power acoustic amp. In my 2013 Ford Fusion, the installation went without a hitch.
