Product Description

This hardwire kit connects the camera to a car, truck, bus, SUV, or big rig for continuous power. It accepts voltage from any type of vehicle and runs on 12–24V.
When your car is parked in a parking lot, connect directly to the battery for constant power 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When the battery voltage falls below 11, the smart low voltage protection will automatically turn off the power to your dash cam. 6V or 23. 2V, which prevents the battery from being drained. If your car requires a higher starting voltage than 11, make sure you have it. This hardwire kit may not work for your car if it requires 6V for 24 hours of parking mode.
Directly to the ignition wire for power only, so you don't have to worry about plugging in the charger, turning on the dashcam, or anything else.
It always frees up the cigarette lighter for other devices and is compatible with all mini USB dash cams such as Apeman, Rexing, Toguard, Vantrue N2 Pro/N2/M2/X3/T2/N1 Pro/X1/X4/M2, GPS navigator, and radar detector, etc. Please note that it is not compatible with the Vantrue S1 Dash Cam.
4 Include a fuse holder; simply select the appropriate one for your vehicle. Installation instructions and a video are included, and the product is simple to set up.

Questions & Answers

When the hardware kit is not in use, how much idle current does it draw?

Thank you for contacting us.br>Dear Customer,br>Many thanks for contacting us. It's around 0.br> 3A. br>May it be of assistance to you, thanksbr>br>On Vantrue's behalfbr>

My fuse box is located under the hood in the front middle area of my 2007 Ford Expedition. Is this something I can use if my fuse box isn't inside?

The fuse box is located on the front passenger side, under the dash, on the right side; if you sit as a passenger and point to the right with your right foot, you will be pointing to the fuse box. You can also look it up on Google, where you'll find a lot of pictures showing where your cabin fuse box is. Best wishes to you.

Hello, I'd like to know if the mini usb plug is straight (not an elbow) and if there is nothing near the plug that could make hiding it more difficult?

It's straight and plugs right into the bracket on the window mount, so hiding it shouldn't be a problem unless you're trying to hide the mount. The plug is located on the top of the mount. Also, the small box may be difficult to conceal, but there is enough length to get around the window and into the dash.

Does this hardwire kit work with the Vantrue T1 dashcam?

Mini USB plug is compatible with all mini USB dash cams, including Vantrue N2 Pro/N2/X3/T2/N1 Pro/X1, GPS navigator, and radar detector. It also frees up the cigarette lighter for other devices.

CAUTION: Only connect to the ignition fuse (do not use power 24 hours a day, 7 days a week)
4/5

Over the last few months, I've hard-wired my Vantrue dash cam using this cable in a couple of different configurations. I first used it in conjunction with a fuse in my ignition circuit, ensuring that power to the camera was only provided when the ignition was turned on. This is a fantastic way to use it. Unfortunately, when connected this way, the camera will not work in "parking mode," but at least you'll know it's not drawing power when the vehicle is turned off. br>br>I've also tried connecting this cable to one of the fuses that is always powered up. This is how it works as well, but keep in mind that it is always drawing power. This unit is described as having "Low voltage protection" in the description. My battery was drained to the point where I could barely start my vehicle in just a few days, so I see no evidence of this. This is unfortunate because I'd like to use "parking mode," but I'd rather have my vehicle start over with some video footage so there's a low chance of damage while parked. br>br>As a result, I recommend that anyone using this cable use only power tied to the ignition circuit rather than "always hot" power.

Simple and dependable, except for one flaw (electrical measurements)
4/5

Overall, this appears to be a straightforward and dependable kit, as it employs a switching regulator (U1) to convert 12V to 5V, followed by a comparator (U2) to verify the input power voltage. A voltage divider circuit using a 100k resistor and a 15k resistor. Pin 1 of U1 is fed by an 8k||1M resistor. When it comes to The regulator IC is turned off when the comparator's 5V ping 6 is active high. I checked the voltage cutoff of this kit out of the box with a bench power supply and found it to be 11 volts. 35V. br>I got a reading of 5. 414 volts, which is most likely to account for any voltage drop along long wiring runs. The idle current was only about 8mA when operating below the low voltage disconnect. br>br>The main issue with this unit is that, despite its low 11. Even on cars like BMWs, where the voltage drops immediately after the vehicle is turned off, it is far too low for effective battery protection. 4V cutoff allows everything to work. At 11. A common lead-in voltage is 4V. The acid battery would have been discharged to 15% of its capacity by now. Granted, it'd take some time to get to this point, but if you're going on a two-week vacation, I'd unplug the dash cam because you'll most likely return home to an unusable vehicle. When you return, start the car. If you have a soldering iron and want to change the circuit to increase the voltage cutoff, you'll have to replace the 15. Resistors of 8k and/or 1M ohms For that parallel combination, a lower resistance would result in a higher/quicker voltage cutoff. They're 0603 SMD resistors, so they're probably not something the average person wants to mess with, but I thought I'd mention it.

N2 PRO DASH CAM: N2 PRO DASH CAM is a high-quality dash Two of the three Accessory Hardwire power kits that were purchased were defective

After informing Vantrue Customer Support of two ACCESSORY HARDWIRE POWER SUPPLY KITS FOR VANTRUE N2 PRO DASH CAM product failures, I sent the following to them: br>I'm taking the time to respond to your request for a video of the (two) faulty Hardwire Power Supplies I bought for your VANTRUE N2 PRO DASH CAM through Amazon Prime. I'd like you to realize how much annoyance this whole situation is causing for such a minor issue. br>In the San Francisco Bay Area, I work as an industrial electrical contractor. For more than 50 years, I've worked as a general journeyman electrician. Industrial Electronic Technologies is the subject of my two-year associate's degree. I'm confident in my ability to determine whether or not your power supplies are operational. br>I made the mistake of installing the second power supply I bought at face value without first checking to see if it worked. br>As a 70-year-old man, I find your not-so-subtle request for a video of my hardwire kit testing insulting and time-consuming. br>When I have time, I'll go through the trash and make a video of them, recreating my earlier test, with the intention of posting it online alongside the additional information provided here. When I have time, I will post it on Amazon Reviews. br>FYI: I bought the second unit because it was less expensive and easier to get another through Amazon Prime than it was to return and complain about the first. I could have been out in the field earning an hourly wage that would have bought a lot of these small power supplies in the time it took to install it twice. br>I'm not going to bother you for another; I'm going to build my own and install it when I'm sure it'll work. br>Sterling Electrical Servicesbr>San Leandro, CA. br>Bob Sterlingbr>Sterling Electrical Servicesbr>Sterling Electrical Servicesbr>Sterling Electrical Servicesbr>Sterling Electrical Servicesbr>Sterling Electrical Services USA.

Dashcam installations are no longer a guessing game
5/5

In the vast majority of instances, it is effective. Kit with everything you need. Likes:

- It *could* interfere with the cover of your fuse box, but this is unlikely.
- The extra slack cable must be kept in a safe place. It would be great if there was a way to make some of them shorter. br>br>When installing a Dash Cam, I would recommend this as a time and effort saver. In comparison to the OBD plug that comes with some Vantrue cameras, it produces a cleaner final result. By the way, this works with any Dash Cam that uses a mini-USB cable. 5 volts and a USB plug Depending on your use case, you can install it on either an ACC switched (key on) or an always on circuit. If you want 24-hour monitoring with motion detection, you'll need an always-on circuit, which is exactly what I did. Most cameras will turn off the main power and record until they detect either a shock (acceleration) or motion (check your camera's specs for this option), at which point they will turn back on and record, necessitating the use of always-on recording. on power. The only tool required for installation is one to loosen a bolt and slip the u-bolt into place. re-shaped the ground connector and re-installed it around the base tighten. Everything else is done solely with the use of one's hands. Additional tools might be useful to some people, but they aren't required.
