I was surprised at how quickly and in what good condition the hitch arrived. In spite of the weight and bulk of the package, the box was intact and all contents were present. Our trailer's I beam frame is on the interior of which I intended to mount the hitch. Although the drop of the receiver left the bumper and the last cross member of the frame inaccessible, it did clear the receiver. Under frame mounting was also not feasible since the mounting holes that would have to be drilled, 5/8," were not big enough to leave enough metal on the bottom of the I beam for the load to be supported. As a result, I will need to cut the mounting bars and weld new extensions to the bottom of the originals in order to provide the drop down clearance. There is no fault on the part of the hitch manufacturer it is just what is needed to perform the task. Only one complaint was that the mounting bars were very difficult to slide into the receiver bars. Due to burs in the receiver bar, with paint buildup on the end of the mounting bars, this was the result of a burs in the receiver bar. Just some time with a band file and everything was back to normal. As soon as the installation is complete and after the modifications are made, the content will be updated as needed. I have updated the website. My next step was to drill two 1/2" holes through the new assembly, use a drill press, and add five foot bolts to help stabilize the weld joint after welding the drop down extensions to the mounting bars. A second attempt was then made at installation. After getting it positioned, I drilled 5/8" holes in the frame, activated the bolts, attached the receiver bar, marked it where I wanted it and removed it. It was necessary to pull the whole mess down again to drill the 5/8" holes through the mounting bars since there wasn't enough room between the hitch and the Getting the hitch back in place was a challenge, but finally the bolts started entering the hitch bar, and the installation was complete. In fact, I am not sure if I would have been able to drill the required holes through the hitch bar if I had used a hand drill, since making a hole to align with the weld nut would be quite challenging. I would expect the assembly to hold the bike rack well since it seems to be rigid enough. The trailer is in storage for the winter, so I won't be able to test it until next year.
I was very pleased with the performance of this hitch! The hitch worked great, as it allowed me to tow our WaveRunners and golf cart when needed. It went in place and looked like it had always been there. Our travel trailer, a 38" Cruiser Radiance bumper pull, is equipped with this. If you're looking for the same solution for a travel trailer, I would highly recommend this.
I consider this assembly to be It takes time to install, but it works great for my bike carrier. I bolted it on and it worked great. It will be welded for extra strength (class II increase weight), but I don't mean to imply that you must do so. There is a tongue weight of 200 pounds on this boat). In another review, someone mentioned that heavy drilling was required for the installation. It will probably take you around 4 hours to install and you will go through a couple of drill bits. It is definitely a product I am pleased with.
Headaches are to be expected. There wasn't anything that I could clamp to the frame, so I was hoping to find something that would work. It took a long time and a lot of effort to install this hitch. The top piece plus the tee piece add up to Despite having a trailer with 7" clearance, my tire is 25" and I had to make several modifications in order for it to fit. The hitch doesn't drop low enough on my bumper, so I had to notch it.
We purchased this hitch to attach to our camper trailer so that we could haul our Box contents were heavily damaged and parts were missing when it arrived. When we contacted the sellers, they responded quickly and provided very helpful information. It took us only a few days for replacement parts to arrive. It is highly recommended that you use this company and It was easy to attach the hitch to the frame of our Jayco trailer.
Be sure to check the dimensions. In order to add a bike rack to our new trailer, we purchased this item. In the instructions, it mentions that it should be checked to see whether it is installed correctly. Due to the frame's length, it could not be bolted parallel to the walls as shown in the As it turned out, it didn't fit because we called first and if we had bolted it to the frame, our new RV would have been out of warranty. wish this solution was the one for us as it seems like a really good and sturdy product. It may be the one for you, just double check all dimensions and check the.
I received the receiver on time, but the item in the box does not match the picture. A receiver tube is welded between a crossover tube and a receiver Images showing the receiver tube welded to the "front" of a crossover tube are shown. My decision will be to return the item.
It is easy to install and the fact that it can be adapted to fit perfectly is a big plus. I had to purchase a bigger drill bit and socket, but nothing too significant. The hitch was very strong and sturdy after installation.
