Questions & Answers

Is this amp a step up from the clarion?

I've never had a clarion, but this equalizer will not let you down. It's a good value for the money.

How would you handle the power wire? I see one in the photo that has a fuse, but isn't that too short?

No, the Red wire with the fuse holder is not too short; the longer side of the Red wire connects to the Scar SKA7EQ, which has power, ground, and a remote terminal on the back. The Red wire will be connected to your power source with a 14awg wire. The car battery or a 10 amp 12 volt DC current accessory fuse circuit could be the source. In the world of audio installation, extending this red wire is commonplace. If you want to install the double red wire size with Heat Shrink Tubbing, first couple the wires with the "Butt Connector," then slide the heat shrink over it and heat it with a Heat Gun, or a powerful hair dryer, then run the Red wire to the Accessory, or Battery positive Red Terminal. The ground wire is the same way; there is no fuse in line, so run it from your battery Negative Terminal Black to the Scar SKA7EQ next to the Red wire and tighten it down. The Remote wire is "in the business of audio installation" Traditionally Blue, Or Purple, Strip 4mm, or 3/8" and install it into the Scar SKA7EQ at the R terminal, R stands for "Remote" or "Trigger" this Blue, Or Purple wire goes to your amplifier, and at the amplifier you will see a Positive terminal, a Negative terminal, and the R, "Remote" terminal the Blue or Purple Remote wire tightens onto the amp in the R terminal spot For this project, all of the wire should be 14 AWG. When wiring your amps, make sure to use at least 4awg for both power and ground, and connect them directly to the car/boat/atv battery. To use the SKA7EQ, you'll need small spools of OFC Copper, Red Positive, Black Negative, and Blue/Purple Remote from Amazon. You'll also need amplifiers in your system. From Amazon, you can purchase an amplifier installation kit as well as three 20-foot spools of 14-gauge red, black, and blue wire. Best of luck to you.

Is there a built-in subwoofer crossover on this unit?

The majority of aftermarket stereos should have crossover control. Set your stereo's allowed frequencies so that they never reach your speakers.

Will the voltage from my sub output to my amplifier be increased as a result of this?

It reaches a maximum voltage of 7 volts but does not provide rms voltage. I have a Walmart duallradio for 21 dollars that I use with this eq to increase the voltage and it works perfectly for my needs. However, there is only one input set.

Better than I Had Expected! Scar has the best crossover/EQ on the market, the smallest footprint, and now with Cell phone off line music, it becomes the head unit mounted to the dash of the boat, and the Scar EQ has the main and sub volume control, with 7 bands to fine tune, and the Cell phone is connected via the RCA Aux inputes behind the Scar EQ with a 6 foot Gold Plated RCA phone adapter cable neetley tucked behind the Scar EQ, giving a very good The Blue Tooth receivers either don't stay connected or are of poor quality
5/5

This unit is excellent value for money. In terms of quality and price, it competes with or outperforms the Massive Audio EQ and the Clarion EQ. Have fun.

For the price, it's a good buy, but it needs a subwoofer input or a parallel input mode! With only one input, increasing the 50hz put additional strain on the mid speakers
4/5

A subwoofer input is required! I believe the low frequency did not "crossover" from the mids to the lows. Yes, it has a subwoofer volume knob, but adding low frequency from the EQ caused it to go all over the place. So. Has the addition of higher frequencies resulted in the subwoofers picking up the same higher frequency? Yes, it was! As a result, adding crossover points to this EQ would take it to the next level! Rather than purchasing additional products, it would be "all in one. ".

It's a reasonable compromise
5/5

Yes, it's a nice product, but I noticed that it appears that a few different brands use the exact same design, and the sound doesn't change after the dial has gone so far past center. It's perfect for what I need, but it makes me miss the old school graphic eq's from the 1990s. And I believe that a nicer head unit with equalization would be preferable to this one. period.

faulty
3/5

I've owned a number of Skar EQs and have always admired their work. All of the eqs produced good sound. However, I ordered three TA stacks: one for the front, one for the back, and one for the sub output. Well, one had a problem, it lit up but had no output,' I told Amazon, and Skar contacted me and said that the warranty was not going to be honored. without even bothering to inquire about my well-being. What the hell is going on here? I opened it up in the hopes of finding a fuse or something, but I wasn't going to honor it anyhow. On one end of a black wire, there was soder on the wire, but it wasn't connected to anything. They should, in my opinion, correct the problem. However, it appears that their warranty is not being honored. So I used a clarion eq to replace it. I will not purchase from them in the future. I also recently purchased two subwoofers, four 5-inch speakers, two two-inch tweeters, and two three-inch tweeters, as well as a few EQs. You'd think they'd treat repeat customers well, but I guess it's my fault because they did a shoddy job on the wire in some way, so be cautious. I'm going to post a picture later.

If it says Skar audio, you've got a great product; if it says Skar audio, you've got a high-quality product that does exactly what it says it will

This is an excellent unit
4/5

Except for the fact that it pops every time I turn it off, I really like this device. Perhaps it's because of the way I connected it, but I've read other reviews where people have had the same issue. Despite this, I would still purchase it.
