Only a low pass filter is used because there is no high pass filter.
It would be front to back, with separate right and left controls for the CD and aux.
Yes, it can, but it must be powered by a 12 volt source and connected via RCA audio cables.
When you give it a signal straight from the car radio speaker output, you'll need a line output converter. The line output converter is connected to the car radio speaker output, and the line output converter's rca out is connected to the bass eq's aux input via an rca cable.

I'm overjoyed at how much of a difference this has made to my beat. I'm telling you, if you're a bass fanatic: You won't be dissatisfied with the results. Even if you don't like a lot of bass, you can adjust how much less or more bass you want with this. This is very effective at removing unwanted bass from your door speakers and sending it all the way down to your subs, where it belongs.
This is an excellent bass machine, but the options it offers are particularly impressive. The bass processor has an on/off button, which I liked because it allows you to boost the low frequency when it's on and have normal sounding bass when it's off, which is pretty cool. The volume knob does not control the bass volume, which is controlled by a separate knob, which is unusual. A bass maximization led is present, which is both useful and attractive. For the sub effects, there are knobs for wide, sweep, and level adjustment, as well as a sub volume knob. On the top, there's a 60Hz or 120Hz low pass filter selector. There's a power led, a fader, and two input selections, one of which is a 3. 5 mm aux input On the top of both inputs, there is a gain adjustment. There are four different EQ settings to choose from: sub-bass, mid-bass, mid-bass, and high-bass br>I'm blown away by the sound's versatility and customization options. It's a great EQ and bass processor combo. It is less expensive than the competition. I like the sturdy construction. It is something I would strongly suggest. I give it five stars.
Great EQ. In Mexico, these are frequently used. I have a 15" alpine box that is set to 34 hz. I had an Audio Control epicenter, and the built-in epicenter on the EQ makes the bass hit harder. More of a drier hit from the bass. The epicenter had grown in size. Like how you can toggle the Epicenter settings on and off on the eq (there's a button for that) and adjust the wide/sweep on the eq for each song you play. (PS: I use it a lot in banda music, coridos, and norteas) - that mexican music oh my god oh my god oh my god.
The sound stage is well controlled by the unit. Unless you're going for a harsh sound, each frequency band brings up guitars and vocals. It's almost as if you're sitting at the studio's mixing board. The only problem I had was alternator whine on a few cold days, but don't worry. . . it's a simple fix. I turned the volume down and back up while pressing firmly on the volume control (first knob). This has happened twice, and both times the "fix" worked. I've owned "higher end" equipment in the past, but I never expected this inexpensive unit to exceed my expectations like it has.
I have nothing negative to say about it. br>br>Beats clarionbr>br>Also, don't buy an epicenter because this eq comes with one inside for those corridos.
br>br>Update: The only issue is that the LED light is too bright at night, which reduces the star rating from 3 to 4.
My system was completely fried as a result of this device. It also took a long time to put together because I needed to find a tiny flat head. I have a lot of Phillips flatheads, but this one required a flathead. It's only been a week since I received mine, so I'm returning it. I'm not sure if it's just bad quality because I could never get the hang of it. It's entirely up to you.
The combination of an eq and an epicenter in one unit is convenient. It's a fantastic upgrade for any system!.
