From the start, I want to mention that I didn't buy this item via Amazon, but I have now used it for nine months, so I thought I would give it a try. This ball head makes a good impression with its smooth gliding and sturdy construction. The device has definitely enough sensitivity to allow for small adjustments while being relatively straight forward to use. I've used it in both very hot and very cold climates without incident. Despite being relatively small in size, however, there is one significant disadvantage for me as I use it on a fairly wide tripod mount (Feisol CT 3342) and the knobs are quite low, causing me to pinch my fingers from time to time. I let it happen when I am not paying attention - but, to be honest, I shouldn't even have to When the rotation is adjusted, the knobs can sometimes fall over the articulation point of the tripod leg. That's an interesting commentary, but it's very fussy.
