This, along with a small tripod (and a low-cost arca-) swiss adapter from eBay is a fantastic low-cost option. angle shooting platform that can be taken anywhere. This is ideal for a mirrorless camera like my A7iii with the 24-70mm lens. 70 f/4 - All of my other lenses are Samyang AF, and they're all smaller and lighter. br>br>So far, I haven't noticed any drift; The ball head is secure and stable when it is locked in place. The best part is that it all collapses into a tiny pocketable rod that is ready to use in less than 5 seconds. br>br>(I know it's not the best star trail photo or anything, but I had to abandon after only one 10 minute shot due to clouds and the rising moon, but it shows that this combination is at least stable enough for 10 minutes. ).
I swapped it out for this one, and the difference is amazing. I mean, it's only a $12 item, so I guess I didn't have high expectations. It's a far cry from the garbage that came with the ring light. This little adapter is fantastic! br>br>UPDATE: br>br> It's been a year and a half since I bought it, and it's still going strong. I'm going to buy a second one to go with a tripod and light set I recently purchased. I feel a little silly, but this thing makes me laugh every time I use it - It's solid and smooth, and - I dunno - good!.
So I've got a Celestron Evolution 9 on my hands. Evolution Revolution R2 imager and a 25 SCT telescope. and here's what I'm going to say. To say the least, the device I had to create to attach the imager to my telescope was ridiculously complicated. I wasn't looking for this mount at all and happened upon it by chance. It was exactly what I needed to make my mount more simple and lighter. I was expecting it to be made of plastic, but the weight surprised me. Repositioning is a breeze with the large, easy-to-grasp thumb screw. The mount's durability allows me to keep the imaging monitor attached to my telescope, which saves me time when setting up for a night viewing of galaxies, planets, and stars.
When mounted on a short tripod, it gives your camera more flexibility. This was purchased to attach to a short (low-to-the-ground) tripod for timelapse photography with my insta360 one x2 camera. However, any camera or phone (with a mount) could be used to point the camera anywhere for timelapse or selfies. This one is simple to tighten and will keep your camera in place. It even comes with a hotshoe adapter so you can attach it to the hotshoe on your camera. They can also be used to hold a flash, but they usually have flexible heads that can be pointed in different directions. For the price, this is a fantastic deal.
First and foremost, I did not buy this for the purpose of using it as a camera. I'm using it to hold a microphone because the boom arm limits my positioning options. br>br>It can take a lot of weight, the build quality appears to be good, and it keeps the microphone secure even when I move the arm around. (approximately 450g | 1 lb, but I'm sure it can take more)br>br>The black thin wide "cap" on the long screw can be removed, which is very useful if you want to mount a microphone or something with a larger screw hole. (The bottom screw and the thin black cap on the long screw are plastic; everything else is metal. ) The black part at the bottom is also a screw that can be removed as shown in the product images. This is ideal for my boom arm because it can be mounted on it. (On both ends, I use a 1/4" Male to 3/8" Female and a 3/8" Male to 1/4" Female adapter. ).
This is without a doubt one of the most useful equipment accessories I've ever owned. The only disadvantage is that: The knob should be slightly larger to make it easier to grip and turn, and perhaps with some rubber texture added for a more comfortable grip. For the time being, this product receives a 5-star rating. stars. I'll be ordering more and recommending it to my friends who are also fans.
My only gripe is with the included adapter. Due to the fact that there is only one dial (?) ) You can secure it to the cold shoe mount, but the ball will remain loose. I use a different adapter that I ordered with two dials, one for the cold shoe mount and the other for this product to keep it stable.
These were better than the crappy mounts that most stands and lights come with, but with two close-up cameras on my workbench, they became a nuisance. Adjust the camera to get the exact shot you want, tighten it up, and they'll be enamored with it. These will be used as lights, but four new (different) ones are on their way.
