Questions & Answers

Is there a way to make a sirui- Can this be used with a 70a plate?

It is true. The number of A 70A can be used with a

Are there any instructions on how to attach this to the Vortex Summit ss-D ?

The Vortex Summit SS-1000 is said to be able to handle up to 2,000 pounds The thread lock used by P is some type of It is recommended that you do not remove it. Despite its removal, you will probably need some sort of thread reducer to prepare your machine for the process. It would be better for me to sell the tripod and get a Slik or ProMaster 525C instead. It is not that much more expensive to get much better tripods. Hope everything works out for you

How can I lock the lever to stop the quick release plate from sliding even when I lock the quick release plate?

In order to prevent the plate from moving after the quick release plate has been attached and the locking knob has been tightened, the plate must not be moved. Having said that, if the QR plate still moves, this means the locking knob is not applying enough

Selected User Reviews For SIRUI VH/VA-Series Fluid Video Head with Quick Release Plate (VA-5 Fluid Head)

It is a quality fluid head that meets a need, but its design is flawed by a shoddy clamp mechanism
3/5

An excellent example of the type of work that you do The fluid is made- Video that has been dampened It is a tripod head that looks like it would suit the needs of many users of both spotting scopes and long lenses with tripod collars if its clamp for the Arca-style mount was better designed These quick release plates are styled after the quick release style. Those who watch birds and other wildlife may find a large market for a quality tripod head that meets their needs. Pans that are easy to use with one hand Tilt of 2 ("2-" Motions") while maintaining a level horizon and compatibility with the "Arca-" A de facto standard among wildlife and nature photographers is the use of "quick release plates. ". This is a puzzle that there are so few (is there any? On the market) According to the US Fish and Wildlife Service, there are more birders than gardeners in the U. S. In addition to their use by serious birders and wildlife watchers, spotting scopes can also be valuable for watching some sports or observing the stars There are "telephotos". observe that there are many very good fluid-reaction based semiconductors Many video heads with the same type of dampening, but using Manfrotto-made frames Slider-style sliding plates are used by a lot of birders, but there are fewer still photographs on them Head oriented (ball, 3-way The camera or gimbal) that are used to take the video is There are many different styles of There are a number of wildlife watchers I know A lot of grumbling occurs among photographers who are forced to live with two incompatible systems. Balls of high quality - the most popular kind The design of heads does not work well for this application, as it requires two hands to both aim and control tension for smooth movement, and inadequately tightened heads flounder in unpredictable directions, losing level horizons, damaging expensive equipment, etc. It is true that the gimbal heads work better, but they are large and expensive. A spotting scope should be no more than that. In a nutshell, it consists of The tilt design found on many inexpensive tripods can work OK, but smooth motion is harder, and most of them are too flimsy to hold the weight of heavy While Gitzo has offered a quality head for birders since the years that first came out, the older design didn't use a QR system and came out recently with a version that uses a (somewhat) arch-style mounting system You can find style in this It handles the motion of panning (to track moving subjects) as smoothly as its competitor from Gitzo (equivalent to a DSLR camera with a Gitzo fluid head only heavier, larger, and more expensive). It is also made of quality materials and solidly constructed. There is a major problem with both as they fail to adopt the Arca-based standard they should These are the same plates found on many other high end and quality mid-range products as per a specification (I believe) by Really Right Stuff As far as I can tell, Switzerland has never done so itself. According to the RSS specification, which is used by many suppliers, removable anti-static mats are required There are generally slide screws attached to the long axis of the places that are longer. They slide into slots machined into the clamps of the head and provide an extra measure of protection, preventing equipment from sliding forward or backward off of loosely clamped scopes or cameras. Both Sirui and Gitzo cases cannot be used with this system both require the screws to be removed, if you want to use the Sirui or Gitzo. A second flaw of the Sirui clamp lies with its construction. The Arca-compatible cable is different from any other As far as I am aware, this style head does not have a moveable jaw at one end (it is tightened either with a screw or lever), so it can be used top-down and bottom-up Loading and binding of the entire length of the taper when it is A small bar on the inside of the screw holds only the very top of the taper in place. Instead of fixed sides, then Sirui uses a screw with a (wimpy) bar. Any protrusions will block the ability to slide in plates from the front or the back, thus making them difficult to insert. As a result, the fixed jaws offer very little ability to adjust to variations between plate designs, and plate grip is weak and localized as well. Here are a few standard plates (including from Gitzo. tripod feet with just the taper instead of a groove with a taper on the bottom) are not gripped at all. Most common gimbal heads that do the job are ball heads with removable end caps, Wimberley gimbal heads, and There are several problems with the head, so I can only hope that Sirui will fix them in a redesign, but due to its incompatibility with other equipment, I cannot recommend it to many intended users Although the head is reasonably priced and the quality is high, it is a shame that the head cracks. At the moment, as with most others, I am still looking for a high-quality video head that will work with all the popular "Arca-compatible" devices It's light and affordable, yet has the look and feel of "style" brands.

The video head works well for the price
4/5

I bought it in order to use with a small spotting scope to view big game in the west, and video and photograph by using a phone and a As for video heads, I had to choose from several types, but none made the final A few of the items I've owned and sold have been given Although not much can be said about the video head, it is the most expensive one I have purchased. This product came highly recommended from other digiscoping users who thought it worked Moreover, it works reasonably well, but it takes a little time to adjust. The video head has been enjoyable for me. In addition to the clamps not being located well, the panning knob that locks or unlocks the head to move is also poorly placed. I find that it is somewhat smooth, but not as smooth as I had hoped, and it has a small amount of trouble holding the tilt in place with a spotting scope attached to When I lock in my scope, I often have to lock it a little higher than before, so that it compensates for movement after the lock in takes As of now, it does what I need, but I will likely sell this down the road to purchase a better video head for what I am doing and possibly a You can pair it with the Promaster carbon fiber tripod for a nice look. The fluid head is highly recommended within the price range if your budget is within that range. It would be worthwhile to look around a little further for other options if you have more money to spend.

Despite its high price, this is a very well made The Pan & Tilt function of this small head is very smooth
4/5

It is lightweight and very small. I would like to speak with you about Suitable for Swiss bank accounts. You could also use a Cotton Carrier plate which is just slightly too large for the unit if you use it. There is no clear indication of whether Cotton Carrier or Sirui are to blame. A small arca-network fix was attached to fix the problem The Swiss adapter plate plugs into the plate that comes with the set. Although I do not do video, I find a video (or pan) head to be convenient and stable when I take still photographs. I find that it is much easier to lock the camera on the target when using a tripod than whenever I use a ball head, which I find too wobbly. You can find video heads that cost considerably less than video heads. Several have worked for me, but with varying degrees of You will be very happy with this unit if you are willing to pay the price.

I don't find this product sufficient for my needs, although the quality is decent
3/5

The products from Sirui tend to be my favorite. Having said that, this head is OK. However, for the money I paid, the weight limit and counterbalance were insufficient for my current setup. If you don't have a very small and light rig/system, the Manfrotto 502 (MVH502AH in my case) is a better option (at the moment), because it's nearly the same price. In terms of size and weight, the Manfrotto is considerably heavier, but given the specs, that is to be expected.

The tripod makes it easy to glass with
5/5

A tripod camera mount like this is extremely useful. In addition to my binoculars, I also use it as a spotting scope. I am pleased with the precision of the adjustments and the overall quality of the product. This small and lightweight head is perfect for carrying in the backcountry because it's lighter and smaller than many other heads available. Before this one, I had a couple of other tripod heads but none of them were as good for camera work as this.

The design of the product has flaws that are easily fixed
3/5

The construction is good and the levers are easy to operate, but they are placed in complicated places and hard to reach. You constantly have to keep your eye on the little lever that locks panning movement when loosened to allow panning, so you constantly have to be aware of it when it hangs down and catches the monopod/tripod. The item was returned to the sender.

This build is made from metal
4/5

This build is made from metal. to be very well built, with the only complaint being that the base is smaller than typical tripod bases. There is a possibility that the pan lock might hit the tripod mount, but it does not seem to interfere with its functionality. It's a pretty good puppy overall, especially considering how small it is.

You can use this to learn how to do things
5/5

Many people who are giving this head negative reviews claim that the clamping system on the plate is poor but if you knew how to use it, you would know that it is comparable to Pull out the ear that you spin to tighten the plate while turning it, pull it out while turning it and you will understand. This is an awesome head, so check it out.
