Using my old Celestron Nexstar 5i as a multi-purpose astronomy system. A new align mode (3 stars, solar system, etc. ), new lists of objects, a query (that lets you know what you are looking at), comments on each object, and some additional functionalities are included. Please be aware that there are two firmware series for these things, depending on the telescope you own. The firmware is wrong when you have the wrong firmware (as I did), which causes many capabilities to fail. Celestron has provided an online firmware upgrade tool that you can use before upgrading the software.
With the NexStar 8 GPS I purchased in 2004, it worked right out of the box. The old Beta 40 version runs fine. Among the motor controllers, there is firmware version 40. Though I am disappointed that my original hand control screen has gone out, the new one has some noteworthy improvements to.
With an updated database, this version of the controller differs from the previous version and provides some additional features. I find it easy to use and works effectively with my Celestron.
As of now, I have attached my hand control to my large telescope via WiFi, where it had been attached to my large telescope by remote control. Remember that I am not experienced with Wi-Fi but I am an expert with WiFi control. Worked perfectly the first time.
My Nexstar 11 GPS was missing this controller, so I replaced it and it works great now. The red display is nice and much better to look at. Field upgradeable firmware is nice, but I do not expect there will be any upgrades.
An agreement is being negotiated with They will hopefully be able to provide me with.
The Celestron product being sold here is the real deal, and it's an upgrade from the original Compared to some years ago, this device is a step up.
In the package that was sent to me, I found a Nexstar 2nd generation In Nexstar+, the third generation of controller, there are three buttons. Even though I received a better controller than what I had, I did not receive what I was told was going to be delivered. I am able to use it for my requirements. Good packaging and timely delivery made it possible to receive it as soon as possible. They simply did not make it out to be what it is.
