Selected User Reviews For SVBONY SV135 Telescope Eyepiece Zoom 7 to 21mm 1.25 Inch Zoom Eyepiece Fully multi Coated 6 Element 4 Group Zoom Lens Telescope Accessory for Astronomic Telescopes
5. Excellent flare control, reasonable eye relief (though not quite enough for glasses wearers), and smooth zooming What's not to like?br>br>Well, there's a lot. At 21mm, the field of view is fairly narrow, and at 7mm, the field of view isn't particularly wide. Even so, this is wider than the 7-degree angle, which is sometimes less expensive but narrower. Other dealers sell the 21mm version, which has a wider field of view and is better corrected. Without a light, it's impossible to tell what magnification you're using in the dark. Zooms with click stops are particularly useful in this situation. Even with a light, comparisons with fixed eyepieces reveal that, at least in the middle marks, the focal lengths marked on the barrel are significantly longer than what the eyepiece provides. As a result, you're probably using a lot more magnification than you think. br>br>However, I prefer this to the Baader zoom, which is much more expensive. "I have Takahashi and Baader orthos, but I use this zoom for my planetary viewing," says the obligatory "I have Takahashi and Baader orthos, but I use this zoom for my planetary viewing. " " I paid $50 for it. I ended up with a high-performance eyepiece that I can sit and gaze through for hours.
I ordered this eyepiece instead of a x2 Barlow because I'm new to astronomy. Without having to change eyepieces, I thought this would give me more flexibility. The telescope included a 25mm eyepiece. I bought a Celestron 4se Cassegrain telescope with a 102mm focal length. Because of the cloudy days, it took a long time for me to get out, but I eventually did. That night, there was a quarter moon, which was fantastic. I used the lower power of the Svbony eyepiece to bring the moon into focus in my telescope, and even though the setting was 21mm, I was content looking at the moon's surface. Instead of changing eyepieces, I can zoom in by turning the rubber ring on the eyepiece. This was an excellent purchase in my opinion.
SvBony produces some excellent products, in my opinion. One of them is without a doubt this eyepiece. I like the markings that tell you how many millimeters you're at. The twisting action is firm and smooth. It shouldn't be so stiff that it feels forced. The field of view is exactly what you'd expect from a zoom eyepiece. This thing is also constructed in the manner of a tank. To my dismay, I dropped it on the concrete today. There were marks on it when I picked it up (see attached image), but I put it in my telescope and it worked fine. This item is something I would recommend.
I had ordered the Celestron zoom lens but was getting impatient waiting for it to arrive, so I decided to order this one instead. The lens had the same appearance and specifications as the Orion zoom lens. I'm not sure if it's a knockoff or a different version of the same lens with a different name. Why not have a slightly better zoom than the Celestron, a slightly better eye relief than the Celestron, and a slightly better price than the Celestron? br>br>It only came yesterday (early!). ), and I immediately put it to the test. It appears to be excellent. In fact, it's a lot better than the stock 24mm lens that came with my Orion XT6 camera. That is to say, the clarity and contrast were significantly improved. I could clearly see Jupiter's banding, as well as the gap in Saturn's rings. As well as some aspects of Saturn's atmosphere. br>br>As you twist the eyepiece, the zoom is smooth and gradual. While moving through the marked zoom levels, there are no clicks. But it's a smooth, continuous zoom, as you'd expect from a camera's zoom. Throughout the zoom, it keeps its focus. br>br>I haven't had the lens for long enough to comment on its durability, but I can tell you that I cancelled the Celestron lens order. I'm very happy with this lens, and I saved $25 and who knows how much time waiting for a lens that lets me zoom in slightly more than the Celestron. br>br>I'm very happy.
The clarity is outstanding! There is no ratcheting in the zoom. The eyepiece is turned smoothly. This disappointed me because I had hoped it would "click. " "Having said that, I'm glad it doesn't anymore because it gives me a better sense of control over the zoom. " It's a substantial, heavy item that feels good in the hand, and I'd say the quality is excellent. Hopefully, now that you're aware of these facts, you'll be better prepared to make decisions.
The package arrived in excellent condition, with a nice box and well-packaged contents. I found the eyepiece, two caps, and a lens cleaning rag in its own clear plastic pouch when I opened it. The EP has a nice look to it and a solid feel to it. The EP sits flush with the focuser on my telescope, and the mechanism runs smoothly (see photo). br>br>The only problem I had was - and here's the kicker - At low magnifications, a black fleck can be seen in the lens. It is not on the outside of the lens, but rather within it; The black fleck moves with the rotation of the EP, but it is not easily removed. I'm going to return it because it's disappointing. QC must've overlooked it somehow. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> I contacted the seller, who agreed to send me a replacement after a few messages back and forth. I believe I was speaking with a representative from Amazon. The EP was delivered in perfect condition. As a result, I'm raising my rating to 5 stars for excellent customer service and a high-quality product. SVBony stands behind its product, which is commendable.
