Selected User Reviews For Rode Blimp Windshield and Rycote Shock Mount Suspension System for Shotgun Microphones
On a windy day, I used it for the first time. Several of our shotgun mikes have been taking too much wind through the deadcat. New blimps were hooked up and all the electronics were setup. In a hurricane, would you hear a flatulent frog? I remember hearing the sound guy use the word "amazing" at least twice. Tell me how it goes if you are able to do that.
On a recent shoot in the open air, I got to use this blimp for the first time, and the results were spectacular. The WOW factor is so high on this list. Compared to expectations, it exceeded them completely. Easy to assemble and extremely lightweight, the frame is the perfect addition to your home. It was a top-notch effort to reduce the noise from the wind and surroundings. A thicker cover than cheaper options seems to shed less than a thin one. I felt it was worth mentioning even though it is a small benefit. These are great for building out your audio kit at a great value.
As a result of the not having to reshoot or reschedule shoots on windy days, I've already saved a lot of money. We offer a product that is unbeatable.
There is only one reason you have read this review You are frantically searching for the truth regarding how well the RODE Blimp can handle wind. My expectations were exceeded, so I want to share my excitement with you. A couple of days ago I was shooting a video after a storm had passed and the winds were still in the 20mph range. By putting on the "Dead Wombat," I was able to literally get rid of all wind noise. In the beginning, I thought the shotgun mic (NTG2) wasn't working because it picked up leaves falling and I thought wind was blowing. Simply put, the message was clear. RODE did a tremendous job ensuring that this package includes the Dead Wolfbat (a great idea and thanks to him for doing so). The only thing you can do to stop the wind with this is and always will be this. This is something you need when there is a lot of wind. All in all, if you're in need of a wind muff, a high quality shotgun mic holder or just a better (or the best) way to cut out the wind from your production, I cannot stress this THIS IS A GOOD ITEM TO BUY.
The audio kit is a great addition to my collection. Wind noise is greatly reduced, and it is very easy to install My favorite thing about it is being able to be held in a.
It's amazing how far a rode blimp can fly! For a documentary, we are using this with a Rode NTG3 mic in the field. Despite its collapsibility, the suitcase has proved to be sturdy and effective for our needs.
It was exactly what we needed. This is a terrific product, and I would recommend it to anyone.
