I went ahead and bought it for my newly purchased Canon EF 70-200mm lens because the only thing I have to lose is my time. 200mm f/4 L (non-aperture) IS) USM lens to see if it would fit on my camera. IT WORKS EXACTLY AS IT SHOULD!
My 4" Telescope is mounted on my iOptron iEQ45 Telescope Mount, and I have an ADM Adapter that uses a Vixen Rail. This setup has the Vello attached, and I can use my Canon EOS 60D with a Canon 200mm f/2 lens. With ease, 8 L series lenses can be used. Using a tripod, however, would rely on the strength of the connecting screw as well as the tripod's overall strength. John Laning is a well-known author.

If you're into the Arca-Swiss system, you'll need a Swiss compatible lens plate. The Swiss system is used. This is something I just bought. When compared to the Canon option, this is a great deal. Despite the fact that I have never used the Canon collar, the Vello does an excellent job. I used the collar with my Canon 70-200mm lens. 200mm f/4L lens (non-telephoto) IS) and a Canon 6D (without the battery grip but with a Sunway L-series lens). plate). I also used a Kenko 1 to test this. 4x TCE, and everything appears to be in good working order. The following are the reasons for removing a star:

The tripod is raised to its full height. If your tripod isn't Arca-compatible, you'll need to upgrade it. You don't have to bother if you're the Swiss type. Personally, I'd like everything I own to be Arca-compatible. Because it is Swiss compatible, it is much easier to change things.
I, like many others, was unwilling to pay the price that Canon demanded for their version of this tripod collar. But I made the mistake of purchasing one of those Chinese knockoffs for around $10 on EBay. I quickly tossed that dreck into the trash. This Vello has a great collar that fits my Canon EOS 200mm f/2 perfectly. The lens is an 8L II USM. While I could barely rotate the lens on the EBay version and was afraid that loosening the collar would cause it to open and drop the lens, this one rotates fairly smoothly and has a thin black felt lining in contact with the lens barrel. And the Vello has a firm grip on it. You'd have to loosen it a few times before it came undone and the lens was released. This is a solid metal collar with a 1-inch wide opening. 3/4 in. a long foot with a single 1/4-inch groove 20 tripod sockets are standard. In this hole, there is also a removable metal ferrule that converts it to the larger 3/8-inch diameter. The standard socket is 20. I wish the foot was a little longer so that I could connect it to my Arca Swiss style lens plate, but it's still quite stable. br>br>I rate it a four out of five. Because it doesn't rotate as smoothly as the (included) collar on my Canon 70-200mm, I gave it three stars. f/2 at 200mm The 8L zoom lens (Version "I") is a metal-on-metal design. However, I'm not sure how smooth Canon's more expensive version of Tripod Collar A would feel on the 200mm f/2's plastic barrel. 8L. However, given the cost savings, this one suffices.
Great product, great price, and it performs exactly as it should. Why would anyone pay CanonNikon's exorbitant prices for these parts when they can get them for a fraction of the price? Vello has sold me a ring for the second time. One I used on my EF200mm f2 prime lens. The first is the 8L USM, which was advertised for this ring, and the second is for my EF70-200mm. IS USM 200mm f4L; Vello does not advertise it. Both aesthetically and functionally, the fit is perfect. I'd buy more from Vello if they didn't make lenses for a couple of other lon lenses I have.
I recently bought a Canon 200mm F2 lens. The 8 L MKII lens has a spot for a collar on the lens but does not include one. Because Canon's collar for this lens is ridiculously expensive, I started looking for alternatives. I looked at some cheap knockoffs on a site that everyone knows starts with the letter E, but they were all a combination of ill-fitting and poorly constructed. br>br>I had previously purchased a Vello TTL cable and found it to be of exceptional quality for the price, so I decided to trust the brand with this tripod collar as well. It fits perfectly, and the construction is comparable to that of the Canon collar at a third of the cost; I highly recommend this collar if you want a high-quality product at a lower cost.
This collar is for the Canon 200mm f/2 lens that I purchased. The lens is an 8L prime. I haven't worked with the Canon version of this collar, but I can't imagine it being any better built. and it's a lot less expensive. I've spent a lot of money on third-party battery grips, batteries, flashes, and other accessories, but not on this collar. All-metal construction is extremely well-made. It is a perfect match for the lens. The finish is also identical to that of the lens. This collar has made me very happy.
This is what I use with Canon's EF 200mm f/2 lens. Prime telephoto lens, 8L II USM. Although it is not as well made as Cannon's official tripod collar, it meets my needs perfectly and is much less expensive. The inside of the collar is lined with a soft fluffy material to protect the lens barrel from scratches and to keep the lens in place under tension. The lens can be rotated for landscape or portrait framing by loosening the lock knob a little.
Fit and finish are of exceptional quality. I was concerned about the price compared to the OEM, but once I held it in my hands, installed it, and used it, I had no concerns. It has made me very happy.
This was purchased in order to mount a Contax 100-series camera. From a Leitax Contax to a Sony E-mount adapter for mounting It works fine, but don't expect the same ease of use as a Nikon or Canon long lens mount when switching from vertical to horizontal orientation. It's inconvenient because there are no bearings. It does, however, work.
