Questions & Answers

If you only want to attach the mount to a strap, do you need to buy the clip?

Yes.

Is this a nikon or a Canon camera? Although it appears that the guy is wearing a Canon lens, the description says (nikon). ?

This is a Nikon lens. It's something I bought, and it works great with all of my Nikon lenses. The images are most likely stock photos that they use in all of their lens kits, regardless of lens manufacturer or compatibility.

Is it just the lens accessory or does it include the Capture Clip?

This is simply the Lens Kit accessory. This product requires the use of an existing Peak Design Clip.

[UPDATE: MY LENS WAS PERMANENTLY DAMAGED AS A RESULT OF THIS! CAUTION! REVIEW HAS BEEN EDITED: When I first looked into this lens kit, I dismissed it as gimmicky, despite my respect for Peak Design as a manufacturer of fantastic gear. br>br>Despite my respect for Peak Design as a manufacturer of fantastic gear, I initially dismissed it as gimmicky when I looked into it. br>I spend a lot of time outside with my camera and lenses, and I find myself wanting to change lenses frequently. When we're in a group of people and juggling expensive lenses, I'm sure we all get a little nervous. It had recently become a little too much for me, so I gave in and ordered this. br>br>I'm so happy I did. Let's start with the design and construction process: br>br> br>A photo of the clearance is attached. The lens used in this photo is a Tamron 24-70mm. The front cap on the 70mm G2 is 82mm. The clearance is restricted, but this appears to be on purpose. br>The structure of the building appears to be of good quality. Glass makes up the majority of it. Metal lens mounts and reinforced nylon It is claimed to be capable of holding lenses of any size or weight. I'll be hanging a 5 pound lens from it, and I'm pretty sure it'll stay put as long as I don't spin around and smack the lens against a concrete pillar or something. If anything unexpected happens while using it, I'll update this review as soon as possible. br>br>Installation: br>br>Installation: br>br>Installation: My capture clip is attached to the shoulder strap of my Think Tank bag. This lens kit isn't nearly as high-profile as I had anticipated. It appears to be a better alternative to using a capture plate on the lens collar foot to lock an extreme telephoto lens to the clip. br>It's easy to use and feels safe. It appears that having the lens holder securely mounted to something (rather than dangling freely) makes all the difference, as I can keep my camera in one hand while swapping lenses with the other. It comes with two anchors for use with a peak design strap rather than a capture clip, so you could attach a strap to it. If you're not going to use it with a capture clip, I think you'd be better off spending $33 on a Lamzix lens holder. br>br>How about a quick lens swap for a single photo? There's no need to worry about it any longer: )br>br>**UPDATE*
I have reduced my rating from 5 to 2 stars because this product has damaged my Nikon 200-series camera. 500mm f5. 6 lens. It scratched the paint off of a lens that was otherwise in near-mint condition. This is a major flaw that deserves a one-star rating, but the product is still great for lenses with a smaller diameter. br>My Tamron 24-70mm lens was shown in the first image I posted. 70mm f2. The capture clip was almost touched by the 8 G2 lens. It appeared to be fine, and I assumed Peak Design had taken all lens widths into account. My assumptions were incorrect. br>I have a 200-word essay that I'd like to share with you. 500mm f5. The clip was rubbing against 6's skin. Two photos of the damage to my lens are attached. br>br>**UPDATE 1/26/2018** no issues with the new capture clip v3br>After contacting Peak Design, they sent me a capture clip v3 that had just been released a few months ago. br>Along with the capture clip v3, there were (almost) flush mounting internal hex screws that can be used in place of standard fasteners that can be twisted without a hex key. br>Because it has a lower profile, the capture clip v3 does not rub against my wide lenses right out of the box, and the capture clip v2 can be used with my wide lenses when used with the lower profile internal hex screws. However, if you use the internal hex screws, the threaded end of the screw will protrude from the back of the v2 clip and into your bag (or hip). br>If you only have the capture clip v2, you might not want to use it with wide lenses.

It performed all of the functions, but instead of being made of solid metal, it is made of plastic
3/5

This lens kit's concept is great; it makes changing lenses less painful, and it does what it says; it's also your only option if you want to use this concept on your Peak Design capture clip, so I'd give it five stars; However, the lens kit's plate is made of plastic and appears to be of low quality; if you've ever used a Peak Design capture clip, it's difficult to believe that this lens kit is also from Peak Design; the lens kit should be of high quality. When I hung my 70-dollar bill, I used a high-quality product like a standard plate. 200mm F2. I have to keep persuading myself that this lens kit is stable with 8 lenses on it. not to mention it's difficult to believe I paid $55 for this. to make this plastic kit.

The end caps fall off, which is a shame because this is a great product
4/5

This device appeals to me because it allows you to keep a SHORT zoom and/or a couple of prime lenses on your belt or camera strap for quick changes. It's not suitable for a medium-to-long lens, such as a 70-200mm. At least 300 words If you're only bringing one extra lens, it comes with two covers to keep sand, dust, and grit out of the side you're not using. On a recent trail hike, I did something similar and ended up losing the cover. It fell off twice and was noticed by one of the other members of the group. I re-tied it and double-checked that it was secure, but I still misplaced it somewhere along the trail. br>In the future, I'll wear it on my belt instead of the PD Slide strap because it interferes with shooting. br>I am a huge fan of PD products.

By itself, it is of no use
3/5

I'm not sure why the company sells it by itself because there's no way to attach it to anything. It should be sold as part of a set with the clip or strap rather than as a separate item. I thought I'd be able to simply thread it onto my camera harness, but I'll need to purchase another $50 part to do so. Useless.

It's a great concept with a great product! Peak Design is one of my favorite companies because of the high quality of their products, as well as the ergonomics and thought that they put into them
5/5

My cameras are adorned with an increasing number of their accessories. I currently have the Slide strap, Slide lite, CL2 clutch, this lens holder, and a Leash for my x100, all of which I ordered two days ago. When I have a long hike to get a shot or when I'm downtown and want the flexibility of having a different focal length on hand, the lens kit makes it much easier to leave my camera bag in the car. My only complaint is that the lens holder caps tend to come loose after a while, and I've already lost one, but I suppose that can be easily remedied by periodically checking to see if they're secure. Overall, I'm still pleased with my purchase; It's priceless to be able to leave the rest of my gear at home when all I need is a second or third lens.

This is something I've done on a few occasions
4/5

Now that I'm wearing two lenses on my left eye, it's starting to hurt. It does what it says on the tin, but it's more suited to smaller lenses. This is something I've done on a few occasions. Now that I'm wearing two lenses on my left eye, it's starting to hurt. I was essentially forced to purchase Peak Design's support pad, which now costs $120 for the sole purpose of holding two lenses. br>br>However, it performs admirably and is simple to use. I have complete faith in it to support my weight, which is fantastic given the $2000 in lenses on my hip. If you're not photographing a wedding with two large lenses (70-200mm), you're missing out. 200 & 24- If you're 35, I'd strongly advise you to do so. If you're going to use it with heavy lenses, I recommend getting the belt support that they sell.

This is an excellent accessory
5/5

It does exactly what it says. When I put my expensive lens on it, I have faith in this product. I've owned a lot of peak design products, and this one is just as good as the rest.

This is a great photo prop
4/5

When switching lenses, it's a great idea to work as if you're advertising. Before going out, I need to do some practice runs at home. I'm using a 24-inch camera to shoot my son's HS volleyball game. 70mm and 70-degree lenses I don't have to dig through my bag when I need to change focal lengths during a game because I have this device. br>I just wish those included caps had some sort of built-in tether. One of them has already been lost:.
