They have a lot in common. The top piece has a slight difference in its construction. The addition of a degree scale on the tilt axis, however, is the most significant difference. On the Pan axis, adjustable zero pointers have also been added.
Some Manfrotto tripods use an arca-style plate, but be aware that some Manfrotto trips use their own standard quick release plate. Many Manfrotto heads, however, have a plate attachment that can be changed.
"A quick check online revealed that the latest Canon 600mm weighs just over 8 pounds," said an Industry Outsider gear reviewer. Nikon has two, one weighing in at around eight pounds and the other weighing in at over twelve. This head is rated for this size/class of lenes, according to Acratech's founder. With a quick internet search, that was the closest I could get to an answer. Anecdotally, I use mine all the time, and I've even left it outside in the elements without issue; It remains clean and functional, with no signs of deterioration in the tightening controls or panning lock-in. screw.
There is no plate included with the Acratech Long Lens Head.

The head is ideal for both stationary and mobile birding. I bought this head to use with a 300mm lens and a teleconverter that weighs around 4 pounds, depending on which teleconverter I use. I discovered that no matter where the tension knob was adjusted, the drag on the vertical movement (up and down) motion was too much when I first took it out of the box. After using it for a while, I expected it to loosen up, but it didn't. I believe the drag should be close to zero (free-floating) if it is to be used as a gimbal head replacement. When the tension is completely loosened, this is referred to as "wheeling. " Despite the fact that the tension knob can be turned 360 degrees in total, the effective tension is only a few degrees from the fully tightened position, or full drag. Unless I'm missing something, this doesn't seem right. The horizontal travel drag is extremely smooth and effective. The head is great for stationary birding and other wildlife, but when I try to use it for birds, it causes me problems. I'd give the head a 5-star rating for flight, for which it's best to use a gimbal head. If the tension control was more effective, it would receive an additional star.
When combined with an L-shape, it's a powerful combination. a bracket, and a half-bracket This is a fantastic cup center column. You can pan perfectly by leveling the center column and then leveling the tile with a spirit level (or the one built into a 5D MkIV). It's a lot easier to level in 3D than with any other head I've ever used (geared or ball). It was well worth the money, and it was also light.
This is a high-quality product that will be a welcome addition to my tripod setup.
This is something I bought for my boyfriend, and he absolutely adores it! It's well-made and sturdy, and he can now more easily maneuver the camera. This is an excellent purchase that is well worth your money.
