The product was well-made and served as an excellent light mattebox. The ability to tilt the mattebox to eliminate ghosting issues with filters, on the other hand, did not work as advertised. If you're looking for a tilting mattebox, this isn't the best option, and overall, this product isn't the best value for money.

It's a weight-loss solution that actually works. Simple and effective. light, made It's a heavy matte box with a flag that gets the job done. If I had one wish, it would be for a rotatable filter slot for polarizers and gradients, but that would change and complicate the design completely.

The first thing to keep in mind is that this matte box should not be compared to the new budget options from SmallRig and Tilta that have been available for the past year or so. Those cheaper matte boxes are good for the price, but they aren't built as well as the Wooden Zip Box Pro. This one is more on par with Bright Tangerine's offerings, and it's a true professional-grade piece of equipment. On commercial sets, this is something you'd see on a run and gun rig. br>br>Let me be honest with you: this thing looks amazing on your setup. Yes, an elaborate rig will certainly impress a client, and having Wooden Camera printed on the flag won't hurt either! The design is striking to say the least. br>br>As you might expect from Wooden, the build quality is excellent. The flag is made of carbon fiber and isn't too thin to allow for a lot of flex. Several solid donuts for various lens sizes are included with the matte box, as well as a cloth donut for smaller lenses. Unlike Bright Tangerine, which requires you to purchase items such as the flag and rail bracket separately, you'll find almost everything you need here. br>br>The filter system is one of a kind. You have the option of using up to three filters. This box does not use filter trays, which is a plus for me because it allows me to use either a 4x5 or a 5x7 format. 6 filters, or 4x4 filters if you're on a budget. The filter mounting is unique in that you can tilt the tops of the filters back (you can only do this with a maximum of two filters) to help reduce glare. A rail system at the bottom of the matte box and a thumb clip at the top keep the filters in place. I was concerned that this system would not securely fold my filters, but I installed two filters, tilted my rig so that the matte box was facing down, and shook the camera side to side, and the filters stayed in place just fine, so no worries. It attaches to a 15mm rail bracket, and the matte box can be easily slid out of the way. You can loosen a couple of screws and tilt the entire matte box, as well as lower or raise the matte box from the rail bracket, if necessary. br>br>The quality of this matte box has exceeded my expectations. Yes, this isn't a cheap purchase. But this is the kind of high-quality gear you'll have for a long time. "Buy cheap, buy twice; buy once, cry once," as the saying goes.

The fact that this matte box costs $500 doesn't bother me, there are numerous alternatives that give this one a run for it's money, especially the Small Rig and Tilt ones from $100 to $600. I don't think it will for the vast majority of people. When I received this and opened it, I was underwhelmed it was just a box with a few bags containing the matte box and filter rings and some black packing paper and that was pretty much it, I was expecting a lot more from a product that cost this much, the packaging on this very muted matte box was also pretty bad compared to other matte boxes, my $100 small rig matte box came in a much nicer box and was packaged waaaay better than this one, when I received Overall, it's a very nice matte box, but I believe you're paying more for the company's name, and I'm not sure it's worth the extra money over something from Small Rig or Tilta.

Everything I've received from Wooden Camera has exceeded my expectations; Their items are pricey, but they are high-quality. designed and of excellent quality It's no different with this matte box: the swing-style The away system is fantastic, and the tray is large enough to hold all of your belongings. No play in the size of the filters. There is a small amount of vertical adjustability — about 2/3rds of an inch — and this is where the box's only flaw appears. There's no reason why the vertical slider couldn't have been extended by a few inches to give you more adjustability to find the perfect fit for your rig. Instead, you'll have to adjust the distance between the rods and the lens to make this system work, which isn't always the case. Fortunately, this hasn't been an issue in my setups, but if there's a lot of space between your rods and your lens, you'll need to modify this matte box to fit properly. I also didn't get a hex key with my box, but I had one on hand. br>br>Overall, this is a fantastic swing-arm rifle. Some (but not all) rod systems have an away system.
