There are only two exceptions to the $1500 price tag: Rather than thumb screws, Allen keyed screws are used to secure the flag position. For the rod locks, plastic knobbed (metal screws) were used. br>I'm a little worried that these two items will develop problems over time, so I'm looking for metal replacements now. br>br>Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase and am confident in its construction. This was purchased for the purpose of controlling light on the lens (as well as for the aesthetic value). Because my camera has built-in ND filters, I haven't tested the filter holders and have no plans to use them. I prefer to commit to other effects in post rather than in camera, so I can't guarantee that they'll work for you. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> Yes, I've thrown in the towel on using filters. I've only used glass filters from Tiffen and Cavision, and they fit snugly in the holders and worked perfectly; as for removing the filters from the carriages, as I mentioned, it was a tight fit, and care should be taken to avoid having them suddenly pop out and fly across the room while applying a moderate amount of force.

So, here's how it works with this matte box. It's fantastic value for money! Although the filter trays are attractive, I would recommend using glass filters because this box offers very little protection and your plastic filters will scratch. The barn doors, not the flags, but the actual base, are flimsy, and as you use them, they loosen and swing around at will, requiring you to stop production and tighten them down about every other shot. My main gripe, however, is as follows: br>br>ON A REGULAR DSLR RIG, THE MATTEBOX IS TOO HIGH FOR THE DOUGHNUTS TO WORK! This is the part of the box that irritates me the most. This irritates me greatly. Every other flaw would be overlooked if this were not the case, but this feature renders the matte box useless! It's a sad situation. It's about a half-inch too tall after adjusting the height. br>br>good price, but if I had to do it all over again, I would have gone with a different brand.

It appears to be made to fit only their 15mm rods and not those of competitors. I tried mounting it on a variety of rail systems, but it won't fit. The FOTGA DP3000 M2 15mm matte box does not fit these rods, despite the fact that I have purchased other accessories from a variety of companies. I attempted to replace the rail mount with another, but the mount plate is too thin in comparison to the others I have; if they only wanted this to work with FOTGA rails and accessories, they should have stated so in the description.

Metal accents and screws add to the solid plastic construction. Simply order two (2) of these for your A7s rigs, and they'll be fantastic. br>Sturdy plastic construction with metal accents and screws on the box; plastic screws on the rails, but they work fine. br>br>I wasn't sure what to expect for the price, but I'm very pleased with these. br>For those of us who use this to beef up our visual gear footprint to the client, it's a good size and professional looking, and it does the job a matte box should do in terms of functionality. The flags were not actually attached, but they are easily attached for outdoor high light. br>The soft rubber donut rings fit snugly around the lens rim, saving time on lens changes by eliminating the need to screw and unscrew rings. They provide a wide range of diameters for various lenses. br> br>br>At less than $100, I can't think of a better deal right now. We just placed a third order.

The amount of metal used in the construction pleasantly surprised me. Many of the tightening knobs are also made of metal, which is a nice touch. All of the knobs should be made of metal. The FOTGA DP3000 M2's 4x4 filter holders are the most serious issue. My 4x4 Tiffen filters won't fit in them because they're not quite thick enough. I'd like to use a few that I have. The Tiffen filter is thick, and the groove at the bottom of both FOTGA filter holders is just too small for it to fit into. If it weren't for the holder's narrow thickness dimension, the filter would obviously fit. Very sad!.

Is it for financial gain? This is a no-brainer. This fits perfectly with the Tilta rig for the Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera. I gave it four stars for several reasons, one of which was the plastic knobs on the rail connection. Metal is used for the other knobs. I've read that the filter holders aren't ideal in other reviews; I haven't done a self-examination yet. Mostly used for glare reduction and the cool factor for clients who are pleasantly surprised without even realizing it. Here's where I'm being completely honest. ) The metal leaves/flags have a nice matte finish. The main body is made of plastic, and while it is matte, it appears to be a little too gleaming. I'm planning on sanding them down and spray painting them matte black. The screws for the leafs do loosen over time, but nothing that a little locktite can't fix.

The matte box is fantastic. This matte box also allows you to use 4X4 ND filters, which I like. It does a fantastic job of blocking out those pesky rays from the sun. This is a product that I would strongly recommend.
