Putting this thing up against a pro matte box is like putting a flip phone up against a Galaxy S6. It's absurd, but it accomplishes the same goal in some ways. br>br>It'll look like a toy to a pro, but it'll look fantastic to people who aren't familiar with gear. br>br>It's almost entirely made of plastic, but what do you expect for $13? It's less than an Olive Garden dinner, but it significantly improves the appearance of your gear. br>br>My only gripe is the inability to adjust the height. It wouldn't clear my lenses (even the nifty fifty) for some reason, so I added some washers to my cage, and it now fits much better. br>br>Also, and this has nothing to do with the actual product, but mine arrived dusty, so I'm giving it a one-star rating. Jkbr>br>Overall, it's not bad for the price; if you're on a tight budget, buy it and save up for some professional equipment.
Okay, so it's not a professional barn door setup, but it can be made into a nice little 'quickie' setup with a little gaffer's tape. To keep unwanted light off the glass, this is useful for DSLR rigs with longer telephoto lenses.
You get what you pay for in this case. It's not the best matte box, but it gets the job done for a "look. " It provides some shade and is certainly adequate for the price, but if you're moving into more professional filmmaking, I'd suggest something like an Arri - If you can get one or something better that accepts filters, you're good to go. This "matte box" doesn't accept filters and has a small number of options. my 70- Only 200 people can fit in the room.
I bought it solely to compare it to some higher-priced matte boxes. I'll be honest and say that this isn't even close to a matte box. It works just as well as making your own cardboard box. There are no filter trays, and the plastic is flimsy and cheap.
It's so flimsy that you'd be better off spending $150 on a proper matte box. 00br>br>This is a poorly constructed product.
It has a cheap feel to it, which is understandable. This matte box is ideal for anyone who needs a quick replacement or is just getting started with a beginner rig. The clamps that secure it to the rail supports are plastic, but they tighten firmly. This thing should last a long time if you take good care of it.
The doors don't stay put very well. This isn't one of my favorites; it works, but it's almost entirely made of plastic and feels flimsy. The doors don't stay put very well, and there's no way to tighten them. It works, but I don't think it's a good idea.
It works great, but you can't fold all of the barn doors in at once because the top won't go down if the sides are closed. When I pack up my gear, I usually remove the top.
