Questions & Answers
It is entirely dependent on the lens' focal length. You should try to fill the frame with a photo of the card as much as possible.
Keep your attention on the target in the middle. The plane on which the side graphics are sharp will indicate whether the center target is in front or back focus. br>I recommend that you look up autofocus calibration videos on YouTube - There's a lot of useful information there!
Selected User Reviews For DSLRKIT 28X18cm Lens Focus Calibration Tool Alignment Ruler Folding Card (Pack of 2)
This item's quality and cost are both excellent. However, at the recommended distances of 10 to 25 times the focal length, the target is too small to accurately test lenses. I'd prefer a larger target so that the image fills the frame more completely and I don't have to zoom in as much when reviewing it. When you zoom in that close in the viewfinder or in Lightroom, it's difficult to read the print on the scale accurately. I returned the item and used the internet to create a larger image.
For the price, this unit appears to perform admirably, but it must be assembled with caution. It's made of extremely thin cardboard that tears easily. So just be cautious when folding and assembling it. It performs admirably. If it's going to be outside, you'll need to secure it to something to keep it from blowing away. It may move around on you if the weather is windy. If you're using it in your home, you should be fine. Best of luck, and it should meet your needs.
I'm not an expert in the field of calibration. Although the target appears to be too small for accurate calibration, I was able to tell that my 100mm macro lens was very sharp, while my Tamron 24 -70mm lens was not. When viewed at 70mm, 70 was sharp, but when viewed at 24mm, it was soft. I would be hesitant to perform a calibration with that Target. I'll be on the lookout for a bigger target.
It did an excellent job of calibrating all of my Nikon and Sigma lenses.
The item might work, but it's so light that it gets blown around by the wind while you're trying to concentrate. It's necessary to secure it. It isn't quite what I had hoped for. You most likely overpaid! It's not complicated. You can find deals on the site where you can get it for less if you look around.
Calibration of all your lenses can be done at a low cost. It's easy to put together and operate.
It meets my needs perfectly.
It is simple to put together and operate. Callibrating all of my Canon lenses was actually a lot of fun for me. This book comes highly recommended.
