The notice says "step down" for a 77mm lens and 86mm fixed ND filter, why should it say that when I need to adapt, I need 77 to 86mm?
The scale is 77mm86mm IF this works for you, as it says that it is between those two numbers
Are there any vignetting issues due to the big ?
The larger filter on the smaller lens shouldn't cause vignetting since the overall size of the lens is larger than the filter being used. This setup did not cause vignetting with my Cannon lens, at least not in my viewing.

What a strange thing to happen! Putting my K&L adapter to use solved my problem of how to use it You can easily use the F Concept square filter holder with this new lens, along with the 49mm filter size adapter!.

Ideal if you use an odd shaped filter on your camera

As I had several 58MM filters and just picked up a classic camera that takes what I believe to be an oddball 55MM filter, I decided to buy this. There are not many 55mm filters available yet, so I decided to pick this one My lens hood interferes with it on one of my lenses, which is part of the lens. It seems to be quite solid as expected, but it does interfere with the lens hood on the lens. (keep an eye out for it.

Purchasing one ND filter for a 58mm lens and attaching a low-cost adapter to use that same ND filter on a 52mm lens is a very good idea.

It is leagues ahead of other step-up rings, and it will never jam or stick. Getting step-up filters stuck to my lenses or one another has taken so much time that I cannot tell you how much time I've wasted. You won't run into any issues with these copper rings, plus they feel and look very good despite being a little pricey.
