It is useful to have this bracket. I was going to record our son's performance at a local club that night, but I chose to use a Nikon B800 and Rode mic because of their quality. I was asked to live broadcast it using a cell phone app by all my in laws and grandparents back home. There is only one hot shoe mount for my camera and I can only operate one camera at a time. My next step was to order a hot/cold shoe mount for my cell phone and this bracket online. With everything mounted and recording the event on my DLSR as well as streaming it live back home, I was able to record every step of the race. This product is highly recommended to anyone who needs to mount more than one object to their camera.
There is a small difference in size, but the worst part is that it is not very sturdy and the shoes are not very strong, the tabs easily break off. It rattles a bit whenever there is a vibration, so that is a major flaw for me since my microphone is close to this.
With this, you can connect a 5 inch monitor, a wireless receiver, and a Rode microphone. When you use a stick to shoot with a DSLR, it is the perfect height. This would be a very cumbersome configuration with our gimbal.
I have not tested this with our gimbal. The construction is made of solid metal and the clips are secure so that your equipment won't fall.
This product feels sturdy, meets my needs, and I enjoy using it. The actual size of it is, however, much smaller than described. It was time to add a video light and a Rhode mic to In the end, I was able to fit the Rhode mic on the lower side hotshoe and the video light on the upper side. Everything fits inside the middle hotshoe. With the exception of the size (which is jarring, it's not an issue for me), the product looks like a great deal for a product at this.
In addition to being sturdy, the product is compatible with other products.
On a regular basis, I use it for a mirrorless camera as both a monitor and trigger. A bit off center is the only thing wrong with the shoe.
However, it is recommended to be cautious when buying it. If you tilt the equipment back, the attachments will fall to the ground due to excess room in the mounts. Personally, I use it with a Canon T6i and Canon 77D with a Zoom H4N and LumiCube. Worked like a charm.
It does what it should do. It's great for adding camera hotspots to your system. Mike and LED lights on the outside.
