This study step up ring is easy to attach and detach from both the lens and the filter. It has a substantial feel to it and screws in much more smoothly than similar aluminum rings. The ring is quite heavy, in part because connecting a 43mm lens to a 77mm filter necessitates a substantial amount of brass. Despite the fact that I had never heard of this brand before, I am impressed with its quality and would gladly purchase another.
It's a last-ditch effort for a step-child. When attempting to remove the ring, it does not have a "knurled edge" for gripping. It has a smooth edge that makes it difficult to move away from the VND filter I use it with. It's also quite large.
The threading on this filter is probably the smoothest I've ever seen. Although it is heavier than many traditional step-up rings, I consider this to be a benefit. I ordered this to go with my Voigtlander color skopar 35mm, which has a 43mm thread size, but I didn't realize it would cover a third of my rangefinder patch! I'm just a dummy head, so this is clearly not a manufacturing error. I'm going to keep it in case I want to use it with filters on my mirrorless camera.
To be honest, it's difficult to go wrong with a step-up ring, but this one succeeds. Cross threading, bending, or even scratching have never been a problem for me. It performs exactly as expected, which is all that is required in a situation like this.
