Filter for the Hoya 72mm R72 infrared camera

Questions & Answers

I was using the Automatic setting on my camera when I used this filter and it produced a black image. What are the chances of that happening?

It is not possible for that filter to work that way, so yes, that is In this case, the filter is equivalent to approximately 10 stops in a The first step is to figure out the right exposure time. I won't go into details about long exposure photography, but you should research that subject first. Here are a few ways you can experiment the camera on the tripod, you need a tripod. )*br>1) Set the camera to the Make sure you don't use any auto-selections. Set the aperture to a full stop of 2 like so. The 8 or 5 is the better choice. 3) Focus manually on the subject. 4) Apply the filter to Once the shutter is open, play around with shutter speeds until you get the right exposure (the image will have a red tint). 1 to 3 as a starting point The second shot is now available. Make sure you use the bulb setting (might need to do so). I am going to keep it short and dirty.

Do you have any experience with the Hoya infrared filter in conjunction with a Canon 70D digital SLR ?

The Canon cameras are notorious for not being able to see infrared Due to this, you have to deal with long exposures and so on. So I bought an Olympus E-450 Both the P5 and the Olympus lenses can see infrared quite well, so well that I can take a shot in less than 2 seconds with them. I am NOT in the process of converting my camera. It's the lenses that are causing you the most problems. Hot spots are present in some of them. A bad image can ruin a good one. out this page to learn which lenses are good and which ones are The following URL We have answers. Please see https//content.irphoto_lenses.com. The PHP language. I have been hooked ever since I got my first IR filter! There is no better introduction to IR filters than this one
5/5

In my limited experience with IR photography, I cannot judge whether it compares to similar products available on the market (or to a full on conversion. legitimately say that right out of the box, I was able to put it on my lens and within 5 minutes, I was taking photos like the ones that initially caught my attention and sparked an interest Even if you can only take a couple of weeks- The limitations of this kind of exposure can only be overcome by a non-wide angle lens Although it's not as good as converted cameras, it still results in the lovely ghosty look I've been obsessed with recently. Although there is some post-processing required to adjust for the sometimes frustrating exposure results, it's fair to say that I consider it a worthwhile trade-off The fact that I did not have to convert one of my bodies to permanent IR to try this aspect of digital photography is very appealing to me. It came sealed in your typical filter box as far as the product itself is concerned. The only complaint I had was that the filter box had a few small broken pieces of plastic that rattled around inside. At first I was worried about these pieces, but they were only making contact with the metal ring on the outside and did not affect Filters like this do feel fairly heavy and are slightly thicker than the Kaesemann filters I own. In order to focus my Nikon D810, the best method I found was to remove the filter, autofocus, then change the focus to manual and replace the filter. I was able to adjust its aim by putting the camera into Live View, but I had to remove the filter for refocusing in order to accomplish that. With it on, I think that the camera may be able to focus if it finds a subject with enough contrast (I used trees in spotty light, so that was There were hot spots on the filter, but this is As you can see from the following image, the shutter speed was quite a bit different between "straight sunlight" and "cloudy sunlight" (3pm light)! I have attached two copies of my first experimental photo. It was taken during my first time using it. In the first image, there is no editing, it is exactly as it appears straight from the camera. In the second image, there is lightroom manipulation.

I've never seen such a good IR filter before
5/5

I've never seen such a good IR filter before. I did not purchase a cheap fake filter like the other one I previously bought. Later, I will post a comparison between my Canon 400D, which does not have a Hot Mirror, and my Canon 7D, which has a Hot Mirror to reflect IR light. You must carry these items with you before you take the picture. Here is how I set up the camera to take the shot. 1 - Camera, digital SLR 2- A lens that will accept 77mm filters. (Bear in mind that you may need a Lens Hood for best results. )
3- A filter for the IR beam
4- 5 tripods - You will need a remote control to take the picture *** using a wired or wireless remote 1 - Apply your IR filter to the grass to get a properly exposed shot. *(the grass must be healthy and it should face the direct sun)*
2- The shot is used to make a custom WB, and then the IR filter is removed. 3 - Set up your tripod and attach your camera to it. 4 *br Be sure to arrange the scene in a way that is comfortable to you and that you are able to The fifth-best note You can turn off the AF now. I. E. 6 - Take a test shot with your IR filter attached and shoot with a low aperture, like F11 or F22 to determine if a Hot Spot is in the middle of your shot or not, if yes then you should use an aperture The ****br 7- Don't be afraid to shoot. Please read the following Note The reason why I'm using a costume WB for reference is that it will likely be difficult to see images washed with red and this way I will be able to more accurately see how the shot will look. The following notes appear in part two As far as I am concerned, my cameras are able to autofocus while the IR filter is attached, but it's still better to remove the IR filter for each scene and reattach it. The following notes apply to Note You can search for recommended IR lenses if you're considering buying a new lens. Ideally, you'll want a lens with an aperture from 8 to F4. The Post-Processing stage.
Before you begin processing the shots, you will need to download Adobe DNG Profile Editor. You can find it by searching Google. You will have to do this for each camera you will be using. First of all. . An accurate camera calibration is necessary before using it. The Agony of (Once Only)* Adobe Camera RAW is a great program to open any good IR shot. 1 - Make sure the temperature is set to 2000, and no modification of the image is needed. 3 - You can save the image as DNG format and close Adobe Camera RAW if you click the save button. 4 *br The Adobe DNG Profile Editor can be opened in a same shot folder or on the 5 - You can select File by clicking on it The following < The following < You can now open a DNG image. You will then need to open the DNG file you saved earlier. On the Color Matrices tab, click the corresponding button. The 7th- The White Balance Calibration procedure. It was 2000 degrees, but the temperature was higher. I. E. 6 - You can select File by clicking on it The following < The following < You can export the profile of your camera.
7- Ensure that the profile is saved on The second is. This step is called postprocessing. 1 - Adobe Camera RAW can be used to view any IR image. 1 - You can calibrate your camera by clicking on the Camera icon in the right toolbar. 3 - The camera profile we created before should appear under Camera Profiles. 4 *br Using table 1, select the temperature or White Balance tool and choose any pixel from the image that appeals to you.
5- Select the first tab and you will see Temperature / White Balance tool
6- Your images will now be displayed. Then click Open Object to modify the image as needed. We can open a shot by holding Shift then clicking Open Object. I. E. 6 - Select the Channel Mixer tool in Photoshop. You need the right tools for the job. The 7th- You should change the Value in Red to 0 and in Blue to 100. This is 8- You should change the Value in Blue to 0 and the Value in Red to 100. *Abbreviation for 9- Hue/Saturation is the option to choose. ** - 10 The masters' names are changed to Cyans' names. The eleven- To reduce saturation, change it to 0 This equals 100x12- To lighten the color, change the brightness to 100*13- You can work on the photo as much as you want. What I give you is the basics, for more, you can google Infrared Photography tutorials and you will find great learning material.
I hope I have been of help.

Ir digital for the first time
5/5

Workflow is easiest when the files are in black and white. In the 1980's I used IR film for the last time I did IR. Because you can adjust on the fly with the digital format, it's my preferred format. The majority of the time, anyway. For each shot, you need to wait about 30 seconds. Using ISO 100 on a 5dmk4 I have been able to get good results With a f4 and 30 seconds, you can get 500 frames. I will not bother with post processing tips since there are many on the internet. slide-in filters might be easier to use since you have to use the filter but not the lens, then attach the filter before taking the picture. Repetition is required if you move from one location to another. The filter itself is light and easy to manipulate. It will obviously require a tripod for 30 seconds. However, it feels as if it will be difficult to remove if you attach it tightly, so I attach mine loosely instead. With this set, my largest filter diameter (77mm) and step-downs for the other lenses all work together seamlessly. I like this filter a lot. Perhaps I will also experiment with something that allows for a bit more light to come through.
