Questions & Answers

The exposures are not long enough, so I need to adjust. There's nothing but a black sky for me! When should I use what ISO and for how long should I expose the images?

You expose for a particular amount of time based on ISO and aperture Your selection of a stop and lens will be reflected in the image. Shorter exposure times can be achieved with higher ISO's, but at the cost of lesser An even smaller F-type By using a wider camera aperture (faster shutter speed) exposure times can be significantly shortened. As an example, a 14-inch spotting scope can be used to observe meteor showers The focal length is 24mm and the aperture is F2. A 15 second exposure at f2 was used with a zoom lens of 8x. Using a Nikon D850, set the aperture to 8 and the ISO to 1000. Astrophotography requires you to adjust the times on your camera to prevent stars from smearing, if that is an effect you do not wish to obtain. To find tips about astrophotography or night sky photography, search online. To find out which exposure conditions will get you the photos you want, try a range of exposure conditions.

The software works as expected
4/5

There are no problems with this Bahtinov mask. The kit must be placed over the lens, inside an empty UV filter, and it must be focused on a bright star such that the central refracted spike is aligned between the two other spikes crossing in either direction (as shown in the illustration). It makes it possible to focus on stars and infinity with great accuracy. You would have to remove the UV filter before imaging, so don't waste your money on a costly filter. The threaded side) is good To get the filter to fit comfortably inside, I had to reverse the plastic insert in the tray that came with it (the solution worked). For now, I was able to deduct one star because it is currently $20. If you want to be sure you don't receive an identical product from a third party vendor, order directly from Farpoint. It's basically a cheap plastic item that is not molded to an exceptionally high standard (i. e. it doesn't have I paid $15 for my order when I placed it.

I couldn't get it to fit right, but it Snapping the filter into your camera is the easiest way to use it

Due to its size, I could not fit it in the correct size There was no way it could I managed by hooking my camera into the filter's edge and resting it against the camera. My camera was pointed upward, so I managed with it My only wish would have been to have gotten the Orion lens holder with legs so it could be attached to the It would appear to be.

The product fits and works perfectly
5/5

The 77mm UV filter by Amazon fits the filter very well A tight fit, so that it doesn't come out easily, but not so tight that it's hard to insert. I was able to use it with my Samyang 135mm f2. 0 lens smoothly. An exposure of 5 to 10 seconds on a bright star allows me to get spikes with nice sizes that can be aligned to make a You can let go of some of the guesswork by using this method.

The Bahtinov Mask is a lot of fun for the money To ensure a custom fit, go over size
5/5

There are several lenses on my system that use this diameter, so I am glad to see this unit for that size. Initially, the mask comes slightly oversized so that the tabs can be sanded or filed for a perfect fit after you receive it. With mine, I adjusted the friction fit so it sat comfortably. As a way of making the removal easier, I attached a loop of braided fishing line. The UV filter fits in the box that came with the Amazon basics UV filter.

Ideal for taking pictures of the stars
5/5

You need to take several second exposures and increase the ISO in order to get a good diffraction spike, but once you have one, focusing is much easier, especially for someone who wears glasses and has a difficult time seeing the display on the back of the camera.

In order to use it, it will need to be inserted into something like a UV filter
5/5

I had to trim a bit of the side to make it fit. It fits the UV filter and works like a charm.

I have also noticed a significant improvement in the way I am
5/5

The product works as described. There is only one disadvantage to star focusing it has to be screwed on to your lens and you have to remember to remove it before taking a Apart from that, I have noticed a dramatic improvement with my stars.
