As an optical filter does not have a dynamic range of its own, it is unaffected by the dynamic range of your sensor. Blowing a highlight means it has no color information, so any postprocessing effects will have it as pure white. But an optical filter doesn't care about brightness - it simply transforms it into a filter. If you do this, your highlight will have a softly fading halo, and even if your camera perceives the epicenter as 255/255/255, the glow around it will retain color information (which in turn enables Photoshop to restore highlights).

I love All the pro photographers out there are using mist filters, but there is a whole other world of diffusion filters than they are I prefer this to the promist because it's cheaper and better. Tiffen says that it does not have a cheesy soap opera effect, and that it has a modern design. The rest of the strengths are outside of my expertise There are much better filters than the promist, and you will be shocked to discover how many there are. I do think every filter has its place - but I urge you to try out this one. The promist is one of the filters that I recommend, but I won't advocate one or the other. If individuals were to build their own set, each filter has its place.

I bought a Tiffen Soft FX4 from Amazon a couple of years back and I have not looked back since. I've found that Glimmer Glass diffusers produce a slightly more pronounced glow in low-light situations than the Soft F/X diffuser and the Pro Mist diffuser, especially in darker environments. This product does not display the disgusting kidney shaped blobs that appear in most of the other products It is also possible to use digital diffusion with Tiffen's focus highlights. You can add a lot of magic to your bokeh with the GG. This diffuser would be a great addition to any outdoor event, band performance or even some dreamy wedding decor.
