Almost as if it would have been better to just make the camera a bit I'm glad that it is only modular, since it is a cute little piece. As soon as I take a picture, I put it on. The camera enables me to grip it just like any other professional DSLR. When I'm shooting video, this extension comes off and I usually hold the camera by its lens, and the extension blocks me from reaching the lens. Because of some reason, there's a small amount of sealing. The personal touch is nice. In 6 seconds, the light comes on and goes off. I would estimate its cost to be 50 dollars. The battery grips do not have a place to hold the battery door, something that all other Canon battery grips have. It still gets 5 stars, though.
Despite my small hands, this Canon EOS RP camera feels big in my hands. From color to handle, this extension grip is a perfect fit. This purchase was a good move for me.
RP may want to make this a priority. It is sometimes questioned why it exists at all, but I can understand Canon's rationale since it allows you to pick what you think works best for you, especially for those of us with large hands who are used to the larger grip even on APS-C cameras. Cameras with C-type sensors. As well as having the benefit of keeping the screen elevated, it also feels great when used handheld. In fact, it holds up well against my ancient tripod when opened.
While this extension arrived on time, in perfect condition, and worked perfectly with the RP, I found it difficult to keep the screw from unscrewing when attaching the It also rotated a little bit loose when it was turned vertical. Therefore, I found that semi-permanent methods would be most effective A permanent thread lock is used to hold it I decided to replace the thread lock with a SmallRig cage because even though the thread lock worked I felt I wanted the ability to sometimes attach a mic and other equipment to the camera. Please take note Due to this extension grip, I can't put a cage on it, so I had to remove it altogether.
Consider this item if you have large hands, or if you just want to gain more confidence in your grip. In order to give users easy access to the SD card and battery, it provides a slide-out design. This is an exact copy of the material used on the RP body and is of high quality.
My pinky would easily fit underneath it. If you're looking for a grip under $80, this one is a definite winner. I find it extremely easy to install (you'll need to remove the battery) and is constructed with the same durable material as the camera. This item came in its own Canon box and was nicely packaged.
It makes the camera feel more solid.
