It is powered directly from the wall outlet and can be left on for as long as you want. You don't need a sound activator and can turn it off whenever you want.
There is a switch to turn them on and off. The switch is connected to the power inverter and is not accessible from the outside of the case.
These are connected to your power supply via a molex connector.
Everything is included in the package. All you have to do now is add miles of power from your power supply, and you're done.

The hardware was a little clunky, and the wires weren't quite long enough to give me the flexibility I wanted (I'd need three more inches of wire to put the lights in opposite corners of my large Antec cabinet), but the lights work fine. When the PC goes to sleep or shuts down (Windows 8) the off switch does exactly what it should, and the lights turn off. 1)br>br>I say "just fine," but the lights are actually quite bright. When the PC is turned on and the lights are turned off, the entire corner of the room glows an alien green. Of course, this is precisely what I was hoping for. The Velcro, on the other hand, was practically useless. The adhesive/cabinet bond was weaker than the Velcro bond, even after thoroughly cleaning the attach points. Instead, I attached the lights with kneaded eraser bits. These will suffice if you already have a mounting solution.
They were also delivered two days ahead of schedule, which was a bonus. The packaging for these lights, on the other hand, was sloppy. The lights were cushioned by cardboard and kept in a bag. Because these are lights, I expected them to take extra precautions and use better packaging when shipping them. The package had to have been gently handled by the delivery man. The lights were relatively simple to wire. I couldn't put them where I wanted, but that's my fault; the cables are short, but I suppose that's enough. So far, everything has gone well. If the lights go out before they're supposed to, I'll make a change.
Any case with a 12" space can benefit from simple and easy-to-use lighting. Depending on your setup, you can adapt the power connectors for molex or the standard connections. I like the soft green glow because I know these cathodes aren't emitting any heat. One minor flaw is that the internal cathodes had play in them and could reflect light at an angle if they weren't put in the tube straight.
I bought this pair of lights about a month ago, and they're perfect for my custom PC. They're colorful (at times) and go well with my color scheme. However, I was unaware of the bulky and unsightly baby blue inverter that must be used to power these devices. This, combined with the bare, unsleeved wires and a gleaming chrome PCI slot power switch that doesn't match nearly any computer, significantly detracts from the machine's appearance. The cable lengths are also a source of aggravation; I have a Corsair 650D, and I can't even put one of these lights on top of the other without revealing the baby blue inverter. The cables that connect the lights to the inverter are also of poor quality; even a slight bend causes the lights to dim significantly. The Velcro stickies that come with the lights are also a waste of time; After about five minutes, I heard a clunk inside my computer and saw that my top-mounted light had fallen. Regardless of my complaints about these lights, they still make my computer glow and look nice if you're good at cable management and have smaller cases.
Two 12" light tubes are excellent value for money, made even better by the bright green. br>Shipping was prompt, and I believe it arrived a day or two ahead of schedule. br>I was a little disappointed when I first put the lights up and turned them on because only half of the tubes were lit up. I fixed it by plugging them into an unused power cable from the power supply (they were originally plugged into a fan), and it worked like a charm. Glow in the dark green. My entire room has a green tint to it. Awesome. br>I wish I could leave them on while working in my computer case because they brighten everything up nicely. br>Because the lights are bright, having an on/off switch is a nice feature to have. My green led cabinet fans looked great with these light tubes. br>While the stick-on velcro pieces are fine, I doubt they'll last long, so I used nylon zip ties (lightly) to attach mine.
These lights complement my Razer green-themed computer perfectly. Because the velcro they come with isn't very good, I recommend using small black zip ties to mount them. It's also true that the blue d adapter that they come with is a pain to deal with due to its larger size and color. The cord is a good length depending on where you want to put these; I just wish it was a little longer. I have a NZXT Phantom Full Tower case that is quite large, and the cord is just long enough for me to put a cathode at each end. Overall, however, these are very bright and work well.
Installing a 12" cathode is simple. The switch is very handy when I don't need it, as it appears to be bright green enough to illuminate my computer from the inside. Outside and inside, my PC chassis is made of black metal, which makes all of the hardware shine even brighter. I have two blue led 140mm fans on top and one on the side cover, as well as a power supply that can change colors between green, blue, and red. My PC looked fantastic with this green dual cathode. I recommend it for building custom biul PCs.
I was going for a similar effect, though: ) is extremely bright. I had to cover one of them with tape because it was almost blinding if it wasn't covered. They illuminate my entire living room from my computer case.
