Because I'm a professional videographer who frequently travels the world, I require small, lightweight equipment to work in remote locations. I recently purchased a new Panasonic Lumix Gh5s camera, which came with lenses, a cage, cards, and other accessories, and I figured I could save money on the batteries if I bought them separately. My assumptions were incorrect. I did, however, purchase some genuine Panasonic DMW- BLF19 batteries, but I found these on the side of the road. Amazon also sells name-brand batteries. br>br>I charged all of the batteries and then tested them one by one by turning on the camera and recording until the battery died. br>br>Both genuine Panasonic batteries lasted for about 2 hours and 30 minutes. This is the first of these off-the-beaten-path destinations. The brand batteries last 1 hour 51 minutes, which isn't bad, but it's no substitute when you're out in the field and don't have access to a charging station. Only 37 minutes were left on the second battery! I tried charging it several times, including overnight, but it never worked in the camera again. It takes no more than a second of power to say "this battery is dead. " It has ceased to exist. In conclusion, br>br> If you're a professional who gets paid to complete tasks, this isn't worth your time; instead, spend the extra money on genuine brand batteries. I'm currently working on a return. It simply does not work if it does not work perfectly every time.
I bought it because I read the reviews and thought I was getting a good deal; don't get me wrong, it works if you charge it right before using it. However, if I charge it for a few days or more before using it, it loses its charge even if it is not in use. br>br>I discovered it while filming a test video. I wasn't working for a client, thank goodness! I don't think it's appropriate for professional use.
br>br>For me and my GH5s, this has worked extremely well. I'm not sure if I get the same battery life as the original, but I haven't noticed a difference in either case, so if there is, it's not significant. When I'm done filming for the day, I use the double charger to quickly cycle through charging my set of four batteries.
Buy OEM. When I forgot to bring extra batteries with me on a trip out of state, I bought these in a pinch. When it comes to video, the battery life isn't great. Compared to Panasonic batteries, which lasted almost all day, it only seemed like a couple of hours. From now on, I'm only going to purchase Panasonic products. Almost every aftermarket battery I've bought for my Lumix GH4 has failed to live up to Panasonic's standards. Then, at least in my experience, saving isn't worth it.
It's perfect for my Panasonic GH5 and GH5s cameras. Spending the extra money on Panasonic batteries, on the other hand, is something I strongly recommend. I've had issues with third-party batteries in the past, and you don't want to deal with any unexpected issues while on set.
USB is built into the charger. That's something I'd like to do when I'm on the road. The price is excellent, and the charging time is reasonable. It's more than enough for a full day of shooting. br>br>I can't speak to durability or battery life over time, but it works great now that I've had it for about a month.
I'll give it a few more months before writing a final review because it appears to be a fantastic product.
I purchased these primarily for the dual bay charger, but having extra batteries is always beneficial. Although they may not last as long as the originals, an hour can go a long way in a shoot!.
