I would have given this one star apart from the fact that it is the only accessory to use if you want to use an external antenna with the Maestro, and for that it does the job.
The work is.
It is accurate and is compatible with my Magellan, but the connection between my Magellan and the Traffic Kit is not as tight as it was originally. I cannot find any way to attach the locking mechanism to my Magellan and it moves back and forth on the base.
It arrived the next week and is brand new. I love it.
It is the perfect companion to my Magellan GPS unit. My opinion of it is negative. Even though I still have it, I continue to use it until I can buy another When you don't have the traffic kit, the GPS unit will send you on some crazy routes, which are not always the best. By adding this kit to it, the calculations become more complicated. The traffic details are not even accurate, I use it only to see them. You could be taking stupid routes if you use it to automatically route based on traffic details you might even go around in circles if you do. It is possible to do better. It would be easier to find my way around in a rental car if I used the maps.
During my vacation in LA, I was able to get through traffic easily with this product. Those who are thinking of traveling through one of the world's major cities who may not be familiar with the area should consider this.
Last month, I lost my original Traffic Kit of my Magellan Maestro 4050 GPS in downtown San Francisco. I bought this Traffic Kit in order to replace it. While the kit was close to the right model for my 4050 GPS, the one I received from Amazon would not fit. In spite of hearing the latch click, I wasn't able to attach the GPS firmly to the Kit. I had headaches while watching the GPS on the local ways. It was almost always moving back and forth. My return of the item took some time.
After using the add-on, I am disappointed. I was excited when I bought it and was disappointed when I used There's no use in buying the external antenna if this device doesn't work. I had to buy the GPS itself a few years ago because it was very expensive, but I wanted to get the most out of it so I went with the For the 3-word sentence, I used You can get a free trial of it (in the New York area) but it never works. Magellan requires you to buy an external antenna for this add-on to work, so I'm not going to spend another dime on it. My purchase of this piece of crap would not have occurred if they had advertised its need for an external antenna. The GPS unit itself is an expensive investment, but when you add all the add-ons needed for this to record live traffic, the cost is prohibitive.
