A Nuvi 650 owner, I purchased this. As a couple, we tend not to commute to work during rush hour, but we do go to my parents' around rush hour in the evening. In order to avoid the long Island traffic, we thought it would be useful to automatically take us to the main roads without traffic tie-ups around that time. We have several different main road options, but we were hoping the GPS would automatically guide us to the ones without traffic. I'll tell you how things work in real life
The network continues to route you the fastest way, no matter what the traffic situation is. On the GPS, a small yellow icon appears on the bottom right hand corner, which contains a number. Once you get close to the road that is backed up, the number appears inside the yellow icon. On the road ahead, that number represents the amount of minutes you can expect to spend in traffic. Simply touch the icon, and it will show you the stretch of road with the delay, and it will offer you an option to "Avoid traffic?". if you click yes, it will route you to a different road in order to avoid (If you click yes, you will be asked "are you sure you want to avoid the fastest route", In this case the fastest route would be without traffic, but with it it would be slower. Reroute requests contain a new arrival time, which is what you'll see when you request the change. *)
Overall, I like the receiver, it does what I need it to do, just a few extra steps away. If the GPS is designed to be fully automatic, it would ask you right off the bat when you program your route whether you want to avoid all traffic because that small yellow icon can be easily missed if you're driving alone inside the car and you're not constantly checking the GPS screen. You might want to play a little sound or something when it appears! it is sort of dangerous to be poking around on the unit when it asks you twice about the reroute while you are supposed to be at the wheel! There are definitely no kinks in the current model, but hopefully future models will have worked out the bugs.
The doctor ordered exactly what he wanted Is in excellent working order and appears brand new Arrived in a timely manner. In the description of this item, you will find The traffic receiver is described as follows This, to me, was the most important thing If you buy the cable without the receiver, then it is all too easy to lose your data I have done so in the past. I was able to get my Garmin to work like new again after putting this part in.
Despite being a great product, it's quite flimsy and expensive. The original one broke within a year, so I bought another one to replace it. In addition to that, the portion that plugs into the outlet started to fail and fall apart. I really like my GPS with the traffic alerts so I gave up and decided to try it again.
While the memory may be hazy, I believe this served the purpose I was seeking!.
This method was never successful and resulted in frustration. The information I found could not be relied on a few times. used it just as a power cord in the end.
Great job! I love it.
I was keen to buy this one, and I am happy I did.
