This kit included everything I needed to replace the battery in my GPS. Unfortunately, a dead battery was not my GPS's only issue. The repair process required following instructions, care, and common sense, all of which you will have to provide yourself. If you do, most people should have no trouble using this kit to replace their device's battery.
Although the replacement battery is slightly larger than the OEM, it was able to fit with a little pressure and care, as long as the wiring was not damaged. Even when it was new, the Garmin GPS ran for much longer on battery power alone than it did on the original battery.
It really works. The only issue I had was that the battery I received had slightly short battery leads, which made it almost too short, but it still worked fine in my wife's Garmin Drivesmart 61 LMPT-S. S model.
This kit includes everything you'll need to get by, including a battery, a screwdriver, a plastic opening tool, and even a DVD with instructions. If you're only interested in the battery, it's a bit pricey. It really works.
I'm glad I finally got this battery for my Garmin, as it has a longer battery life than the one that came with it, which is very short and easy to run out. So go ahead and get this battery to save time.
The most important part of the puzzle, as the headline suggests, is figuring out where to put the "splitter" once the screws are removed. I repurposed an old double-decker bus. The new battery was secured in the housing with a double-sided sticky pad that easily peeled off the old battery. The battery was properly charged, and the result was correct.
It comes with a T4 torx driver, but you might need a T5 torx driver. This is a fantastic set of tools. This battery fixed a problem with my Garmin that wouldn't turn on.
Because the power leads are at the very top of the battery, rather than on the top or side, the plastic barrier inside the garmin battery holder had to be trimmed out to allow the battery to fit.
