So, this appeared to be a pretty cool product on the surface, and depending on your use, it may even be a good product. br>However, having specifically looked for ones I could wall mount, this one is deceptive and defectively designed in my case. It employs four key-holes, as do many other wall-mounting products. Slots in the shape of a hole (as seen in the attached photo). However, only two of the keyhole slot screws can be used with these due to a defective design that I'm not sure how they got to market, other than to possibly dump them. They actually made the design symmetric (again, see picture). Because the slots are oriented in opposite directions, you can't use all four keyhole slots. This means it can't slide left or right (or up and down). To make such a mounting scheme work, all of the slots must face the same way. It would have also been beneficial to have a template or measurement to better align the two (or, hopefully, four) mounting holes. I'm not giving it a zero because it does work if I just leave it on top of my bookcase like the one it replaced, but that isn't the point. The only reason I'm not returning it is that I've already drilled holes in my wall:.
This was purchased to replace an 8-port surge protector with two slow-charging USB ports that I had previously purchased. This one has 12 outlets as well as 3 USB ports that charge quickly. br>br>The outlets are arranged in such a way that they can all be used. Regular plug-ins go in the middle outlets, while bulky plug-ins go in the outer ones, which don't block any other outlets. This is significant because you can use all of the outlets! Because all new phones and tablets are fast charging, the fast charging USB ports are a plus. This is convenient because it eliminates the need for an expensive fast charging base and allows you to simply plug your cord in. The cord is also a good length, allowing you to use it wherever you want. This is a product that I would strongly recommend!.
A power strip from a well-known brand, such as APC, TrippLite, or Belkin, would have been preferable, but none of them fit as well as the Huntkey. (And, let's be honest, they're all made in China. ) )br>br>The Huntkey is large enough to accommodate all of the outlets, though this does not mean you should use them all at the same time. The sockets have a good fit, as well. The plugs will not come out by accident, but unlike the APC strips, you will not need a crowbar to unplug something. The outlets on the sides are in the correct position- That is, if you plug in a large wall wart, the majority of it will hang over the side of the strip rather than blocking another outlet. Manufacturers continue to get them wrong despite the fact that they are simple. br>br>This strip has a very high Joule rating. Even the other Huntkey powerstrips are higher than this one. Why? I'm not sure. Another thing that I liked about the Huntkey is that it has a straight, un-curved shape. plug with an angle In my house, those right-angled offset plugs never seem to work. The fact that this is a "dumb" powerstrip is the cherry on top. There's no Bluetooth, and there's no internet access. As a result, there is no fi, no software, and so on. There will be no issues. br>br>There is one flaw, which appears to have been addressed in other Huntkey models. Although recessed, the main on/off switch is very light to the touch. The power strip will not turn on by accident, but it can be turned off by simply brushing against it. It could be turned off by something as simple as a pet walking across the strip. I don't have a problem with it, but if I did, I'd make a switch cover.
Bedrooms will love it. For my bedroom, I purchased a surge protector. When I'm trying to sleep, the red and green lights are very small, and the switch is covered, so there's very little light in the room. To be safe, I covered the lights with a small amount of electrical tape. Surge protectors with truly objectionable lights are quite common. There's plenty of plug space, and the dedicated USB slots eliminate the need for charger bricks. This surge protector is extremely reliable.
It's been a month since we got it - There aren't any issues with the way it functions. I like the black because it doesn't stand out on the shelf of our living room computer desk, and the cord is black as well. Although the cord is long, I wish it was even longer. My only complaint is that it is quite light and lacks any sort of grip (rubber nubs?) on the bottom side, so I added some double faced tape to the bottom to keep it from sliding around (especially when people are plugging and unplugging).
The plug layout is ideal for my larger plugs, and there is also enough room for my standard plugs. 12 Outlets Extender with 3 USB Charging Ports 5V/3A 12 Outlets Extender with 3 USB Charging Ports 5V/3A 12 Outlets Extender with 3 USB Charging Ports 5V/3A 12 Outlets Extender with 3 USB Charging Ports 5V/3A 12 Outlets Extender with 3 USB Charging Ports 4000 Joules, 1 Amp, 6 Foot Extension Cord I couldn't have asked for anything more (though I did purchase an insurance policy). Beautifully packaged, quick shipping, simple to use, and a great price make this a must-have for anyone. I'm going to get a second one for my room - I could get anything else besides this, including a phone charger, a clock, a lamp, a wax warmer, and so on.
A single printed slip of paper serves as the "user's manual. " The label stating that it cannot be used with an extension cord is located on the bottom, with print that is so small and letters that are so close together that it is difficult to read. It took a bright light and magnifiers to see what it said, and it's disappointing that I'll have to return it yet again.
The power strip is a little bigger than I expected, but I like it because it stays flat on the ground much better than those thin strips. It's also convenient because I can charge things and place them on the flour next to the Power Strip while they charge, and the USB ports are conveniently located on the power strip's end. If I needed another one, I would buy it again.
