This surge protector had all our major electronic appliances connected to it when we experienced a lightning strike. It did nothing to protect us. The television we lost, the Nintendo Switch, and the stereo system with surround sound went missing. Electrical workmen who were called in to fix other damage caused by the lightning concluded that these surge protectors are ineffective. This seems to be the case. Belkin offers a $300,000 warranty, but from what we have read, filing a claim with the company is very difficult, so we have decided instead to just go through our homeowner's insurance company. It would be better for you if you bought a cheaper power strip if you just needed more outlets. You can probably forget about the power strip in case of lightning, as it's not going to protect you. Our next purchase of surge protector power strips will certainly not be expensive. I thought this one at least wasn't worth it.

The quality has dropped in a big way since I purchased my third of these. I bought the first two over a year ago and they were solid and durable. My box was sent in an odd shape a week ago when I bought this one. This is a misshapen device because whoever assembled it decided that the on/off switch was not meant to sit straight on the plastic casing, and then tried to screw it together anyway, breaking the casing and leaving the switch sort of in place. In such a way, they sent it. Don't do it! It's a piece of junk! I live in a super old house, like pre-Civil War old, so I bought this power strip for the Belkin name and because it cost more than your average $8 power strips at the store, and I anticipate that it will work better with the old wiring I have. It is easy to mount, the quality looks fine, but the false advertising about the USB outputs I find Belkin can make good products such as this so you should check it out.
