Product Description

Ideal for miking drums, cymbals, or an acoustic guitar, this mic can be easily added to your stand.
It'll clamp to the side of most amps and fits most standard mic stands and booms.
The nylon tip on the adjustable clamping bracket ensures a secure grip without damaging your equipment's finish.
Most standard mic clips and booms have threaded ends that are 5/8"-27.

Questions & Answers

What is the largest diameter of bar that this will fit on?

I'm using a standard mic stand with a 3/4-inch diameter, but it could be much smaller or larger. It has a V-shape to it. So a very wide range of fit from about 3/8" to nearly 1 1/2" with a shape to fit one side of the bar and a 1 1/2 inch thumb screw that tightens down from the other side.

Is this going to fit on a 1 1/2" diameter bar?

No, I don't believe so - My pole clearance is barely 1 inch, according to my measurements. 5". However, as you can see in the photo, the clamp's far side is in the shape of a V, and I believe a 1. The full depth of the gap would be inaccessible to a pole with a diameter of 5". Furthermore, the screw's center line is only 5/8" from the hard edge, so even if you could get the pole in there, it would be off center, causing the screw to push askew on the pole rather than in the center.

The tightening knob is supposed to have a nylon tip to prevent damage to the equipment, but I don't see one in the photos. Is there one at all?

That's what I believe. It's black, like the screw, and it doesn't give way to a fingernail (at least, I don't think it does!). However, because it is smaller than the screw, it appears to be something special on the tip. In addition, the tip is concave to match the shaft to which it is attached. I'm not sure if that slight indent was molded in or if it was caused by my tightening. In any case, it is secure and does not cause any damage.

Is it possible to mount a Blue Yeti microphone on this?

Because it isn't flimsy, it should be able to hold any microphone.

With one minor upgrade, it works perfectly
4/5

I used these to attach some travel music holders to mic stands so that there would be less clutter on stage and that they would be more portable. I simply unthreaded the large mic clip screw and replaced it with a long screw for mounting the music stand (see my review of the Ravel SSRAVELDESK Desktop Music Stand - It's fantastic! br>br>The one flaw in the MY550 bar is the tiny pressure point where the clamp screw contacts the mic stand; it's made of plastic, so it shouldn't scratch the stand, but it's only about 1/8" in diameter. I upgraded it because I was concerned that securing it too tightly would dent the stand. I purchased a box of 7/8" plastic base nails. at the hardware store on furniture glides (plastic feet for the bottoms of wooden furniture). Because the tip is plastic, all I had to do was center the nail on it and turn the screw until the nail was completely sunk in. That provided a larger surface area for spreading the pressure, which was ideal for my mic stands.

Shure SM57 does not like it
4/5

To set up a mid-shot, I needed an offset from my boom. A Shure SM57 and a KSM44 were used in a side-by-side configuration. Unfortunately, the extension attachment screw bottomed out in the mike mount before it could be tightened to the extension because the receiving threads in the SM57 mount were too shallow (OR the mounting screw in this extension bar screw was too long). As a result, despite being tightly screwed in, it wobbled loosely. I made a washer to go between the mount and the extension to take up the slack (see photo), and I was able to tighten it up. The metal of the extension will flex slightly, as others have pointed out, but this isn't a problem for me.

It's perfect for what I'm looking for
4/5

I'm using these instead of the Allen because they're less expensive. Heath ME- Attachment for a 500 mic stand It works fine; I wouldn't recommend using it on a stage or on the road frequently, but it's fine in a studio setting.

Ideal for recording in your own home
4/5

My living room is where I record. Another mic stand next to the computer would make my wife very unhappy - This allows me to add a microphone without having to buy a new stand, which is fantastic.

This mount is incredible
5/5

I would buy from them again without a doubt. For two reasons, I purchased this item. The main purpose is to mount a microphone (which I have yet to do), but it also serves as a storage area for cables and headphones. It does a fantastic job with this!.

Buy two or three of them
5/5

It performs admirably for the purpose for which I purchased it. I've only used it a couple of times, but I'm afraid I'll misplace it again, so I'll have to buy it again.

It's ideal for securing a variety of items, including non-metallic objects
5/5

mics! I used this to mount a Behringer MA400 to a mic stand; for more information on how I did so, see my review of that product. I really like the actual mounting portion (screw and clamp), which is why I gave this product 5 stars.

Holds the mic with the boom, which isn't particularly strong, but adequate
4/5

I use it to hang a small boom attached to a microphone from a wire shelf in my office; it wobbles a little from the weight if the mic is touched, but it doesn't bend (so far), and it's perfectly still otherwise, and strong enough to keep it all in place. I'd prefer something with more power and better hardware, but this will suffice. The value for money is excellent. I suppose if the boom was left extended all the time, holding the mic out there with the cable attached, it would bend eventually. It is simple to replace. It's not going to break down any time soon.
