It's a nice feature to have because it's only available on the higher-end Thinkware dash cameras. I purchased two for my Thinkware F50 and FA200 2Ch dash cameras. The accuracy of speed would likely be 97%. I wish the cable was longer, but that would most likely cause interference. It looks like a hockey puck stuck to the windshield, so unless you have a tinted sun strip, it won't be very discreet. If you don't make sure it clicks into place when you plug it into the dash camera, it will come loose and no speed or GPS data will be transmitted to the dash camera. br>br>4 out of 5 stars.
It plugs into the side and can be peeled and taped with the 3M mounting tape that comes with it. My Jeep Wrangler Unlimited has mine hidden just above the front plastic. It's a very simple installation that doesn't require any special tools. When plugged into the SD card adapter, the device does not cost money to use on a monthly basis, but it does provide additional information. While you're driving, the GPS accessory will show you your speed and record your location on a map. It's a fantastic piece of advice that could come in handy in a variety of situations. In addition to the Thinkware F50 unit, I would strongly suggest this.
But it's a great photo; I have one in one of my cars and it's perfect, and I just ordered another for my truck. So far, this has been the best dash cam I've come across. Low-profile, and it worked flawlessly on both Apple and Android devices. I installed a 128GB card in them and was able to locate the person who had hit my fender. When driving, set the g-sensor to low, and when parked, set it to high.
Don't waste your time and money on a Thinkware dashcam if you don't get this GPS unit as well. The benefits outweigh the cost, and installation is far less difficult than installing the dashcam itself. I enjoy using the Thinkware viewer software on my PC to track GPS location and speed. It was money well spent.
I'm in my driveway at other times, having just backed out of the garage. When it connects, it is estimated to be about a mile away. I'm not sure if it's a GPS or camera issue. Other than that, once it's connected, it's fine. This is still a good match for the Thinkware F200.
This item serves as a navigational aid. Light and speed camera alerts are mentioned in the product description, but neither of these features work. The GPS may take up to three minutes to recognize that it is connected, and the dash cam may indicate that it is connected halfway to the store. br>br>Advantages; br>It's super simple to set up, and it only takes a minute. I ordered this from Amazon because the big box store where I bought my camera didn't have it, and they don't even carry it, which is strange. Because the cord is short, there isn't much room to work with; you should mount it according to the instructions in the box. I've got the whole thing set up behind the rearview mirror. The three wires from power, rear cam, and this are the only things you can see. The tape is sticky, as the headline implies. So choose a location and make sure it's where you want it to be.
It was simple to connect it to my Thinkware FA200. Make sure to enable GPS and GPS stamping on the video in the camera settings. It kept a steady and reliable GPS signal after I figured that out.
