The antenna itself, at least, is water-resistant. I've had no problems leaving it on my car for weeks at a time in all kinds of weather. The USB connector at the other end of the cable, of course, is not waterproof.
Yes. I'm a fan of this.
No, I don't believe that is the case. I used MicroRidge's serial port monitor program, and the output rate is estimated to be 1hz, or 1/second. This isn't an issue for me because I'm using it on my boat with a chart plotting software package. I also appreciated the fact that it was a true plug-and-play solution. When I plugged it in, the device's onboard device driver automatically loaded. I've tested this device on three different computers and it works perfectly. I hope this information is useful.
It appears as a COM port and operates at 4800 baud using NMEA0183 protocol.

This worked for me when I was on Linux. It quickly acquires fixes and performs admirably as a position data GPS receiver. It does not, however, have the capability of driving a PPS signal for time synchronization. When you open the case, you'll see a PPS signal blinking an LED. That could probably be tapped, but it's a very small surface mount LED and would be a difficult soldering job for someone who isn't used to working with electrical components. Instead, I use the following for PPS: GT of AITRIP GPS Receiver U7 GPS Module.
This was purchased in order to connect to my Raspberry Pi Kismet box. I plugged it in and used cat on the device name (ttyACM0) to get live GPS data. Kismet is also quick to pick it up. There's no need to set it up because it has a magnetic base and a 2-meter cord.
You'll need this if you've been using the GPS USB dongle with a USB3 port. This reduces the amount of RFI emitted by the USB GPS dongle. Because the antenna is at least three times more sensitive, it can lock on to more satellites faster.
This was exactly what I needed. I tested this unit on a Windows 10 and Windows 11 laptop, and it found drivers and worked flawlessly in both cases. I'm looking for a program that will allow me to change the time on my computer. I've tried a few different ones but have yet to find one that I like. The majority of the time, everything works perfectly. When inside, it takes a little longer to get good satellite locks, but you should be connected to 6 or more satellites after 5 minutes at the most.
This GPS was incredibly simple to set up. I connected it to the electrical outlet. The GPS was quickly recognized by Windows 7 and installed. I use it in conjunction with BktTimeSync to keep my computer up to date for digital communication. This GPS is compatible with the time sync program.
Your laptop can be turned into a chart plotter with the help of this small USB GPS. You can see your progress, as well as your speed and heading, on the laptop screen by using OpenCPN and NOAA charts (free download) and this USB mouse. Although OpenCPN is available for both Windows and Linux, I've never tried using this GPS mouse in Windows. A COM port appears when you plug in the USB GPS.
My EarthMate, which came with my first DeLorme purchase almost 18 years ago, was becoming unreliable, so I needed a replacement. I didn't want to spend $600 on a GPS because Street Atlas already has features that I like and am familiar with. br>This device synced with Street Atlas automatically and has proven to be accurate and dependable. Is there anything else you could want?.
That's a fantastic thing. When I was on the road, I was excited to use my RaspberryPi 4 to add both GPS and a time source. There was no need to look for inputs or drivers because it worked the first time. It's not often that things work right away, but it did this time. "Voila!," as they say.
